Feel like you're art will never improve? Don't give up! Press PLAY (2-3x speed) for an animation on how any art can improve with time!
I started setting a time I'd spend on my art (at least 3 hours) and that challenged me to improve. I still spend hours trying to make smooth lettering and people's proportions look right, but all that drawing has helped make many things easier to draw than before. We can all get better with a little patience and...time! :D

Everything comes together nicely in due time, i've been trying different ways to draw people, not that i'm planning to ditch my current way, It's just good to practice different ways of drawing, which takes.. well.... time :)
03 Jul, 2014, 8:14 pm
That is so true because when i first joined colors, my paintings only took 30 or less minites...
Now mine only take 3 till 7 hours to do and thats when i improve alot! Thnks for the information! ;D

I usually spend several hours on my drawings. The hard part for me is finding the inspiration. But another thing that I like to do is wait a day at least before I post something so that I can look at it later with "fresh eyes" (sounds weird, but I don't know how else to put it) that way I know that Im satisfied with my work. :]
03 Jul, 2014, 10:39 pm
Great animation and message! I usually spend one or two (or more) hours on my art since it's usually more on the realistic side :)

Ah yes, we've all been there. Man, back then when first joined the colors! gallery, I posted my fisrt pic and I thought it looked good, until I saw all these other pics that looked better than mine. So then, I got very determined to try and improve my art. I just wanted to jump to being as good as everyone else so I could get noticed, but of course that didn't happen immediately. So whenever I drew a pic that I thought looked really good to me, I then see how much likes I get and felt like my art wasn't good enough. (Did I put some effort in some of them like 2 hours or so.) But I'm not like that anymore now. I'm always try and put a lot of effort in my paintings till I'm happy and ready to show the gallery what I've drawn. I love looking back at my old drawings it gives me so much nostagia. I love nostagia... -w-

I've improved a *lot* ever since I joined, but the amount of time that it takes me to draw DECREASED :V
04 Jul, 2014, 4:36 am
I need to practise more. I feel my art is the same. Plus I get lazy, and try to draw quick. But, I see you and others have improved so much. I really enjoy looking at the improvements.
This is great rogue! I'll try this and see if I can improve.
Thank you for making this.

Yes time does improve a lot...ur shading has gotten a lot better nd still theres still time for us to improve...uve gotten quit good with the 3d...u do ad shading...but now lets work on ur Anatomy....the 3d looks cool dude but some time i think u relie to much on the 3d for a more realistic painting...try to shade more like wat u did here nd work on human anatomy...wat helps is look at the human body...all sorts of kinds of bodys...the human body isnt perfect nor semetricle so dont trip when u c a lil bit of an un even figure...just look at a body ....at differeent angles the body could look weird or look nice nd human...dont for get bout the face anatomy too:]
hair as well buddy:]
time should help u.

Its true that there is a lot of good art out there with massive time put into it, but there are also artists that are experienced or naturally talented & dont need alot of time to get a desired result. Likewise, there are people who've been drawing all their life and havnt really improved at all..
My point is that people improve in all different ways, some needed patience & time, others needed observation & the will to try new ways of drawing without fear of ruining it. Some needed both.
& then theres those that no matter how hard they try, no matter how long they try, they are never able to get the skill they desire. It just doesn't click for them.
Time isn't the only thing you need. But its certainly good of you to reveal one piece of the puzzle.

Thank you for making this, it's just what I need.

05 Jul, 2014, 8:39 pm
This is excellent advice! :D My first few paintings, I took the longest I've done, but they looked awful (i didn't know how to use the tools that well lol). Then i spent waaaaay too little time and they still looked awful xD. Now i'm taking more time and they look a loooot better. I spend about 1 hour on paintings, so now i should spend more time... Thanks for the awesome video painting thingy!
06 Jul, 2014, 1:12 am
Yeah. I think that time can improve art, too! : )
Actually, I was amazed on how long it took me to produce some of my pics, even if some parts of them included small amounts of color to be added or details to be applied. I guess it just goes to show, if you take your time in art, you can really go far in talent. ; D
06 Jul, 2014, 12:23 pm
so true....practice make perfect =D
06 Jul, 2014, 2:08 pm

Time has also improved your animation skil, it's amazing! : D sadly I can't spend as much time on a painting, due to only being able to play about 2 hours a day. But thank you for the very motivational animation!

10 Jul, 2014, 3:07 pm
Fantastic job Rogue...thats how u boost moral up in here!
11 Jul, 2014, 1:43 am
Pretty nice animation! :)
but (in half) i dont think so, i think its not time, its 'effort' if you being lazy you'll spend little time, and if you put more hardwirk you'll spend in long time.
and its also depend on your skills, if you do more practice you will improve your skill then you may draw in little time yet good quality.
anyway, good job!
11 Jul, 2014, 1:09 pm
^Actually it is time because the more time you put in your paintings the more you improve which is to gain a static of effort. In my starter painting i put no effort and drew random, but time passes, look at me now.
To Rouge Ranger, you make the best animations and you are very helpful to the Colors Community! :D
You're awesomw bro!
