I completely understand. It's easier to be yourself online than in person. I've had the same fear before too, that suddenly everyone will know about my "interests". It's not that I'm ashamed or anything, but people tend to latch onto one detail and make that all you're about and really my attractions are such a small part of who I am as a whole person. Society makes too much of it in my opinion. For example, you're worried that it will get out and that'll be all you're about. But you're so much more. I mean, you could be "straight" and it wouldn't change much of your drawings. You wouldn't start drawing landscapes and fruit bowls. So, if you just feel like people knowing would make them obsess over that one detail, you don't have to feel pressured to be "out and proud". So long as you're comfortable being yourself, that's worth its own parade. :3 *HUGS*
That's just the issue really, I wanna let them know so it's out of the way. But on the flip side, I don't wanna have anything change. Like, I'll pick on my friends all the time being like, "haha, that's gay of you" and they say it back at time(we understand that we are kidding). But if I were to come out that would change to, "haha you're so-oh my god I'm so sorry!" It's like, no dont apologize for trying to be a friend and pick on me with insults that USED to be harmless. I don't want things to change like, "oh you MUST like to do ____ because you're...you know"
And then there's those awkward "So, you like guys and I'm a guy, so you must like me. Ewwww!" or "But you don't seem gay! Unless you secretly listen to Lady Gaga while wearing high heals." or "You're gay, so you must have good fashion sense. Help me pick out an outfit at the mall!" -_- It's hard to be yourself when you have to wage a constant battle against stereotypes and misconceptions, but the more people who see that you don't fit those stereotypes, I suppose the closer we'll be to finally ridding ourselves of them.
