I used to trace images when I was young and naive, but I refuse to anymore. Mainly because it doesn't really help improve your drawing skills at all, and partly because of all the people bit.ching about it. xD
And honestly, I'd be kind of flattered if someone thought my art was good enough to steal. :Y

Ok heres a standpoint. Art is art. If you traced or used a reference and dont claim the art yourself your not doing anything wrong. As i stated before you LEGALLY have to have permission to draw someone elses idea. If i drew a Pikachu with 2 tales and a gray hat thats still theft because Pikachu wasnt my idea. Fan-Art is wrong without permission. This is an art gallery that states in the rules you CAN TRACE! As long as you give credit and dont claim its yours. Most importantly if u hate tracing then Colors!3d is NOT the art place for you. Deviant art, ect are for non-tracers but ya thats still at fault for copyright. Claim it or not if you draw something(like ur "Zorua") and say its ur O.C., Give it a name, ect u are claiming it as ur OC right? Well thats just as bad as tracing because thats the same as claiming the character and inspiration yourself. Im in College and im studying Copyright currently so i know how it works. The long hated S.O.P.A which everyone hates may be close.

Now im not hating at all. I do get upset when people gang-bang my friends or me. (Even tho i woulda just blocked the user) But you have no right to comment on something when ur just as guilty. Heck even my gallery is 90Percent copyright so im at fault too. I guess it just boils down to Paulygon is a popular user. He has fans so u just wanted to Make a Point. Remember Harrassment is against C.o.C . anyway so ur breaking a rule too. Im not trying to change ur view but this is Colors!3d not a "real" art gallery so get over it.

^

okay im not entirely sure what you're trying to say

all I got was tracing w/o permission or w/o credit is okay

Idk why ANYONE would think that

im sorry but THEFT is NOT okay

Also, I'm pretty sure Nintendo/Gamefreak/maker of Pokemon WOULDVE SAID SOMETHING if he didn't want fanart.

I said I DO NOT CLAIM POKEMON IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. Zorua is NOT my creation. I DO NOT call LUCIDITY my ORIGINAL CHARACTER. She is simply a character.

If you don't like "characters" that people spinoff of copyrighted things, go whine at Sushi or Victor S. or whoever. Sushi uses Pokemon for her characters and Victor doesn't own Nintendo's Miis. It's such a common thing, nobody's really at fault for doing it as long as the original creator doesn't say otherwise.

Well i dont think i coulda been more clear. How is taking a 2D picture and redrawing it and taking the time to "3Dify" it different to you? Sure u give credit to Nintendo now but actually to get legal proof u must request a copyright notice of your painting to Nintendo/Gamefreak. If they deny you after you have already posted the painting u are breaking the law even if its a reference. Heres a good example- Remember the Pilsbury(cant spell) Dough boy? Well a seperate family owned franchise named themselves their store "My little Dough Girl". Guess what? She got sued and FINED! Flipnote Hatena was an apl for the DSi. If u painted Mario and didnt give credit they could fine you a thousand dollars! And yes even Colors! could fine you too. How old are you? I could understand u not knowing this if ur not in High School or whatever.

Nintendo/Gamefreak did say its NOT OK TO SPIN-OFF! See the little R or C logo besides the word Pokemon/Mario/Zelda, ect.? That means LEGALLY you cant draw/use their ideas without legalization. You are at fault too weather its "traced" or not... So next time u say "Tracer!" or "Art Theif" Look back at your gallery and most importantly mind ur own business. -.-'

I cant remember the last time i saw a traced image on Weeks Best. Plus just hit the "Original" icon to prevent seeing them.

@Lightningrod It's okay to make fanart, you just can't make any money off of it though. (ie the fans who were making the metroid fan movie got in trouble because they were making money off of it, and not because they were making a fan movie)

Do yall see my point tho? That Lucidity had no right to claim someones an art theif when they're guilty?
