this took me much longer than it looks: for the first time, i used, as reference, a picture/photo not my own-VERY HARD TO DUPLICATE WATER. hope i succeded. the photo reference came off of FlickR. ( i did this the hard way & used a grid-so many colors per square...aarrrgh!)

This is very pretty, I love how it looks like it was painted on a canvas. That's awesome how your kids aren't scared of the art, my son isn't quiet there yet, I think he's developing a fear of the dark too.. sigh. So what is your most desirable thing to paint?

How do you make it a "grid" I'm trying to learn new techniques to better myself...so far mine is draw a circle till it looks okay and erase the parts I don't like >.> lol

It has an interesting watercolor look to it. I like it. I have done a few paintings trying to replicate pictures, and there is quite a difference in how I feel about the result of using my own photos compared to using photos from google or whatever. But painting anything is better than painting nothing, and I'd bet you feel more comfotable making this sort of thing up from imagination now.
