With shading you must imagine light coming from a certain direction as the direction becomes further and further away from the light source the color becomes darker and darker. depending om the object, it is the parts of that object facing away from the light source to appear the darkest. Once this is achieved you can continue to blend in all shades together with the color copy tool and the darkness of the ink on low.
