few years back i was in my schools racing car team. i was pit crew and all i really did was deal with seat belts during driver change over. (i couldve been a driver but i was a lil too tall hhhbd orz)
building the car was great, we used a kit sold by the company who runs the races. it was simple enough to follow and it was really fun to build (and fun to mess around in school super late). teachers bought in donuts and biscuits for us too! the car was tested on the school playground,

...where i got the role of helping the driver into the car and tightening the seatbelt during a pit change.
the first race was amazing! even with such a small role, everything was intense and exciting. we came 4th, which is amzingly high for a first race, and a kit car! the teams in 3rd and up even expressed how they were scared by my team and how we nearly got 3rd.
the team in 3rd were our first real rivals and we met them again at our second race. we only came 6th that time, due to some battery mishaps. but it was still great!

at this point we were about fifty fifth in the country, qualifying for the finals at goodwood! it was crazy being on a professional racing track, with the stands and pits. i met some people i talk to on dA and we nosied at each others cars (theirs was wAY COOLER). i havent really talked to them since... X(
we started in fifity fifth place, but we finished thirty second, and our rivals were up in the single digits >:c there was also a scary "crash", a car clipped a corner and flipped on its side, skidding across the track. it was a terrifying sound and no one exactly rushed into help, a marshall just wandered over with tea in hand... he was okay though, the car had a mesh inside which cushioned him.
