So i start with a red-orange colour, texture it with a darker and more clockwise on the color wheel, stop after red, go back to the orangish colour and do one layer that's brighter than it.. Go back to the origianal colour, and cover it with taps from the largest fuzzy brush. Then to a transparent layer of the original colour.
The Colors! Gallery moderators will look at it as soon as possible.

And you can do this at any angle.
Or curved for a Lava-fall / flow.

That was actually simpler than I expected. XD But thanks for explaining it! I'll try drawing a lava dragon sometime soon.
