Moesadie, since you nicely asked I will give you the story, though I wasn't going to post it originally.

This character is a scientific experiment altered for combat.
a certain rare gene makes the subject more likely to respond to the treatment, she has it.

The scientists wanted a male subject, but since the treatments are radical and harsh, most of the experiments failed. She was a success, but was female.

The scientist decided that instead of more harsh procedures to change her into a boy and risk their only success, they would simply raise her as one.
Apparently my scientist are misogynists.
You can later see more drawings as I completely fail to pass her off as a boy. :) There's more, but that answers your question.
