You executed the basic steps well. The only thing you may wany to consider next time is how the fire would effect your silhouettes. For example, the outer edges of the silhouettes would reflect an orange glow. I would use a small, solid edged, brush at about 50' /. opacity.

Beautiful painting and nice tribute to all our fireman, policeman and rescue workers. I liked it.
