HG Wells started many sub-genres (alien invasions, time-travel, space exploration) and predicted a lot of things: lasers, atomic-weapons, cell-phones, tanks, and automatic-doors. Who knew he also predicted furries of all things?! TIODM still is one of my favorite books, and no, it's not because of "furries". In fact it's practically an ANTI-FURRY book considering it's dark themes (See Below)

(Continued) I don't want to spoil it in case any of you want to read the book, but trust me, it is a VERY dark classic-horror novel (not at all for the faint of heart or bleeding-heart animal lovers). On another note, the movie adaptions do not do the book justice at all, so read the book before watching the movies (though Island of Lost Souls is pretty good).
Yeah, in case you don't know, a "furry con" is a convention where furry fans go and discuss stuff. Also I plan on making this a common meme for myself, so expect more in the future.....

Seeing how HG Wells/horror adaptations go, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the plot of an upcoming film. :/

@CrazyRiverOtter- I assume you're refering to the idea of Holliwood literally making a horror film adaption of the book in which a furry convention in Hawaii is the main-plot, most likely with some deranged scientist terrorising the convention like some cliche SAW-ripoff. If that's the case then I won't be very surprised. I mean Holliwood has already turned World of The Worlds into a film about Tom Cruise running around randomly in modern America with absolutely no Marsian action, The Invisible Man (aka- Hollow Man) into a slasher film, and The Time Machine (the newest film adaption) into a movie were the future humans are extremely advanced in wind-turbine technology made of bamboo and know English because of old New York street signs. If they did do this kind of film-adaptian then I think the biggest flaw would be that it goes in the EXACT opposite-direction of the book (SPOILERS: most of Dr Moreau's creations weren't savage monsters per-say, and all of them were originally animals)

Heh, that's pretty much what I was going for.

Does watching the parody in The Simpson's Treehouse of Horror count?

There actually IS a movie of this novel. It's old, from the sixties or fifties I believe? My dad tried to get me to watch it. XD

@Quad and BlueFlag- Yes, I think I might have already mentioned that. There's been many attempts to adapt the story to tv and movies. The 5O's version you mentioned stars Bela Lagosi and is called Island of Lost Souls, it's one of the closest adaptions (though it changes the plot of the story ALOT). It actually was banned in some countries because of it's depiction of vivisection among other things. In the 7O's they made another version, no very note-worthy to say the least. However in the 9O's they made the last movie-adaption of the book. That movie is seriously HILARIOUSLY weird! Through together a morbidly pale and bloated Marlon Brando who plays the infamous doctor while wearing an ice bucket on his head and a cheesey mumu, a tiny clone of Dr Moreau who looks like burned chewing-gum plays a tiny piano on top of a bigger piano, psyco machine-gun weilding animal men, and tons of other weird scenes. Seriously, that movie is so bad that it breaks the scales and suddenly becomes funny
