Well, it is called a "NINTENDO 3DS" There just using another abreviation.The Playstations and XBOXs don't mention Sony or Microsoft in their names. So it is not like calling them "a Sony" or "a Microsoft", also these two companies produce more than just games consoles. Nintendo are only known for games.

^^^ They both have three sylables. I understand it is more convinient for people to say, "3DS." But the only similar equivilant that I can think that is the same for Sony and Microsoft, is saying, "Are you playing a Playstation?" or "Are you playing an XBOX?" Neither specify the console, so people would be generally thinking of one of the more up to date or popular at the moment. At the moment more people have PSthree and XBOX three-sixty rather than PSthree and XBOX ONE. So if someone says, "Do you play Playstation or XBOX?" They'll be more than likely thinkng of PSthree and XBOX three-sixty. But that will change when more games will come out for the new consoles and when the consolles themselves get cheaper.

I have a friend who calls every nintendo console I own "a nintendo" so I never know what he wants to play. Thats what I'm getting at here. It annoys me now because he's been doing it on purpose for 2 YEARS. Once my other friend said to him "ugh why don't we play on your Microsoft" to get back at him. And when I say "why not say 3ds", I mean because it has the same syllables as "nintendo" and I actually know what console they want to play. There's no need to overthink this, it's just a comic about an "in-joke
