I recently /tried/ my hand at some sci-fi realism/landscapes. :D
Realism can be difficult for some, so they don't really draw it. This gallery has many younger people who may not have a knack for realism yet, so they draw cartoons & anime.
But I agree in the sense that a refreshing realistic painting should be here more often. :D

Yeah, but sometimes it really is a great artwork or is a halarious joke.
Anime is suprisingly hard to draw, for me at least.
You have to get the proportions just right or it looks wonky.
Realism allows for blurry edges and blended lines. For natural and uneven edges, whereas anime & cartoons call for clean cuts & dynamic looks in almost every part of it.

This is really great btw! But I do cartoony stuff and it's more of a sense of fun and happy. Yes, realism is cooler but it's also something only certain people are good at and everyone else came up with the idea of cartoons. (it's easier and more playful). But I still like art of any kind, this is a great picture good job! :-)

Realism looks very cool when finished right. Your eye is drawn to many features, which is good. Anime & cartoons often pulls your attention to only a few places.

great painting! lots of details and the 3d is nice, and I can see the influence of Senco on this. I've never actually seen the Epic movie, what's it about?

I prefer landscapes and buildings or cities done in an atmospheric mood. I am tired of cartoons, though I love watching anime. But the young need to start somewhere and there are many styles and ideas about art. This is a lovely painting and I like Senco's work a lot. Munin and Gaz bell are my favourites.
