Definately Sticking With This Style by S3K Stage
You'll notice that Mario's head is more round, and his hat's bill actually goes around his head (ZOMG). His nose is also lower on his face.

This is definitely better than your old Mario. Could use a little hair behind his ears, but other than that this is really good.
