For a moment Knife could only stand in the cave entrance and stare in utter shock. Scanning the back of the cavern with sharp eyes, he spotted a familiar golden dragon tied down with thick ropes and chains, strong enough to restrain even a fully-grown dragon. 'Sunstorm!' he cried out.
The humans heard his panicked shout and glanced up in surprise. They all wore armour and carried weapons - from huge guns to silver knifes, curved daggers and viciously jagged swords. They laughed at Knife, showing no fear at the sight of him, even though he could have easily torn them apart.
'Well, well,' one of the humans said menacingly - he looked like he could be the leader of the gang. 'Seems like we have another one here!'
Knife's eyes widened in fright when he finally realised who these people were... they were dragonhunters. They killed dragons, then used their scales to make armour and sold their teeth and claws for great amounts of money.
The silver dragon bristled in rage and snarled at the hunters, no longer afraid. They continued laughing at him, even when he unsheathed his claws and prepared to kill them all.
'Knife! Wait!' cried Sunstorm, trying to warn him. But he didn't hear. He was too focused on destroying the humans. With a lion-like roar, he leapt straight into the cave and attacked the leader.
Gunshots exploded in the darkness and bounced off the cave walls. Some of the bullets tore holes in Knife's wings, but he didn't notice. He snarled, lunged forwards and caught the leader's neck between his jaws. There was an echoing crack. Knife felt a wave of cruel satisfaction as he threw the leader's body across the cave and left it to be swallowed in the shadows.
But then he heard the terribly familiar voice, shrieking in pure terror. He looked over his shoulder. His heart felt like it stopped beating for a moment. One of the hunters was gripping a long dagger and had just slashed Sunstorm's throat.
Sunstorm collapsed with bright blue blood pouring from her throat. Knife let out a deafening howl of rage and grief, and leapt forth to kill the hunter as savagely as possible. The hunter fought back, managing to slice Knife across his right eye. The dragon ripped and slashed with his long claws and tore off the human's head before tossing the corpse away with a snarl of hatred.
By then, the remaining humans had abandoned their weapons and run for their lives, terrified by Knife's viciousness. Suddenly alone again, the silver dragon rushed over to Sunstorm's body, ignoring the pain in his newly ruined eye.
'Sunstorm... wake up...' he whispered, nuzzling her head, but she didn't move. 'You can't be dead. You CAN'T be. You just can't be!'
He kept repeating those words over and over again as he nudged and nuzzled Sunstorm's motionless body, but nothing he said could truly convince him that she was alive.

Wow, those dam.n humans!
By the way, there were two typos, "knifes" and "dragonhunters", but I don't really care. It was a great chapter. But I hate the humans!

(PSTP) I can't believe I mispelled 'knives'... But 'dragonhunters' was intentional, that's just how I prefer to spell it.
