Whenever Rainfeather ran out of quills, she'd pluck her own wing feathers to use. She didn't realize this was unhealthy. So when Rainy's family had a quill shortage, she plucked many of her feathers and soon fell ill. Rainfeather was really frail at the time, so it was pretty bad. She had to stay in bed until her feathers regrew. The bandages were restraining and Rainfeather was very unhappy about not being allowed to draw without a pony to make sure she didn't use feathers.
