in comments. yep. warnings: blood, language, the like. also, it's filled with words. RUN AWAY! just kidding. you still here? alright, lets get started. #clockworkmaiden
-They what?!- A surprised yell rang out across the dry, dusty courtyard, slightly muffled by the surrounding stone walls. -Not so loud...- The badger leaning against the cool stone blocks rubbed his ears. He was wearing simple leather armor, and his arms were bandaged with linen. The creature stood on two thick legs, taller than any normal badger could be. The animal he was adressing, a pale furred wolf, stood in the dust before him, eyes gleaming despite the perpetually dark sky. She was slightly shorter, and her posture was more slumped, making her look more like an ordinary mammal. -No?- she hissed. The sword clenched in one hand whistled menacingly, tracing short arcs through the air. -You tell me that EXACTLY what you had me train to stop has just happened, yet want me to be calm about it? Have you lost your mind?
The badger sighed, then looked up at the clouds as if begging for aid. -Niki, how old are you? You can't complete ten years' worth of training in a week, and you're not here to fight anyway. We've been over this already, you could at least not yell my ears off each time. The wolf grunted in response, then shook her long mane of hair out of her eyes. She was obviously not satisfied with his answer, but she slipped the sword back into its sheath. -Just don't expect me to take the dea.ths of my friends calmly...- she growled. -Anyway, you said I'm almost ready for my asessment, didn't you? The badger nodded. -I believe so. It depends on when the Maze is open, but we should get you on it in the next moon or so. Niki reeled back. -A whole moon?! But I need to be out there now! Isi needs help, and so do the others! Pyro, you can't keep me in the Haven like this! Pyro the badger shook his head again. -The war won't be over that quickly, don't worry. You'll get your chance. -But-
-No. I hardly know why I bother telling you anything in the first place. Now get back to work. I do believe you were supposed to be in the armory?- Pyro's eyes narrowed slightly, but he kept his composure. Niki huffed then turned on her heel, towards the entrance carved in the silvery stone. The badger watched her go, still leaning against the wall. When the wolf disappeared, he set off in the direction of a larger door, muttering something under his breath. Despite the hot winds blowing across the surrounding wasteland, the day was young, and he had work to do. ----- end of first fragment
