Kaiyah is the only pony to ever stand up to Lander, mostly due to her being half dargon. L isn't used to this and instead of letting his ego get the best of him, he finds it attractive. Even though he is already engaged to Sky.
His cursed, hypnotic eyes cause anypony (only works on ponies) who looks into them to fall for him. He thinks of it as a gift, but later realizes how bad of a curse it really is when he becomes torn between two ponies.
