try drawing things you wouldn't normally draw, or draw from photos or something. i had a pretty crippling art block for a good 2 years and am only recently starting get out of it by forcing myself to get out of my comfort zone.

You have art block? *empathetically pats shoulder* I know that feel, bro. And I think it needs to be said that you could replace your rectangular friend's "art block" and replace it with "fangirl" and, in a somewhat different way, it would still make perfect sense. Just saying.
