Another fantastic tutorial birdie, managing tones and hues is very odd for me so this should help. I also enjoyed the break down of planning layouts for the eye to follow, it's easy to forget about.

aw man, i could really use that portrait tut. lol i find i actually like doing them, but like everthing else, i go by my gut on how to do most of the things im doing. which, for the most part is fine, until i hit a rocky area and dont know what direction to take. :p my mother, who is a fantastic artist herself, trys to help, but shes not the best at teaching. lol i get the way you explained color theory.
hopefully you can help with my portrait skills as well. :3
