Have you tried blowing into your L button for about 5 seconds?

In settings I think you can change the L button or R button to the B or A buttons... I've never tried it, so I'm not sure

Umm, Biscotti, you can just change your button settings to exclude L and R in the settings menu if colors.
Like, my undo button is B (my redo button is A) and my Palette button is up on the arrow pad.
