My overwhelming fury took over my mind as I sprang onto Loner's back and snapped my jaws around his neck. I couldn't think. I couldn't control myself. My friend's betrayal was simply too heavy a blow for me to deal with.
I tasted cool blue blood trickling between my teeth as I tightened my jaws, attempting to break the larger dragon's neck. But Loner was stronger than me. With a furious roar, he threw me backwards. I slammed down hard on the grass, feeling bones cracking before I leapt to my feet and charged him a second time.
Our front claws clashed and locked together like swords. I lashed out and heard a papery tearing noise as I ripped a gash in Loner's wing. He roared again and - with a massive slash of his claws - opened a great wound in my throat.
I collapsed as blue blood, my own blood, drenched the ground around us. When I looked up at Loner's face, I saw his eyes glowing a brilliant scarlet amd his jaws twisted into a horrible snarl of rage. I realised that he couldn't control himself. He was going to kill me. I briefly wondered if he would even regret it.
But just before Loner's jaws snapped my neck, something shoved him away from me. I heard a terrible scream of mixed anger and pain. When I looked up, I saw Loner - still overwhelmed by his own fury - slashing Seaflight with his claws.
The blue dragon sunk to the ground, mortally injured. Ignoring my own wounds, I rushed to her side. Our eyes met for a few seconds.
'You were... always a good one, pup,' Seaflight gasped. 'But don't... throw your life away... fighting with your own friends...'
I whimpered. 'Seaflight, please wait... I'll find a way to save you. The other dragons will help! Just hold on a minute longer!'
She grinned. 'No time for that,' she replied, her voice quiet and filled with her familiar sense of humour. 'Just keep living without me, pup. Don't waste your life like this... You're like a son to me. Keep yourself safe... for... ever...'
I howled in misery and looked around desperately for help, but we were alone. And as I watched, Seaflight drew her last breath and... passed away.
...I must have stayed at her side for several long minutes, lost in my own misery. I had already lost my real parents, my leader, my first friend... and now I had lost Seaflight.
When I finally looked up, I saw Loner standing rigid nearby, staring at me. His expression showed nothing but shock. His eyes weren't glowing scarlet anymore - they had returned to their normal dark-red colour. And I knew he regretted what he had just done.
I shakily stood up and walked over to him. 'Loner...' I said quietly.
He shook his head and growled, 'Tigertail... why did I do that? I never wanted to harm her... I was just angry... how did this happen?'
'You lost your temper,' I replied, hoping to reassure him. 'It isn't your fault. I know you weren't intending to k-kill her... she was in the wrong place at the wrong time... that's all.'
The black dragon nodded uneasily. 'So what shall we do now?' he asked.
I thought about it for a while, then sadly looked back at Seaflight's body and answered, 'I don't want to stay here. Let's go somewhere else, and form a new Pack together.'
'You would really want to stay with me?' asked Loner.
I nodded firmly. 'I don't blame you for Seaflight's death. And you're the only friend I have left.'
He hesitated, then slowly dipped his head in agreement. 'Then let us go... We will create a new Pack.'
It was difficult for me to abandon this place, but in the end I knew it was my only choice. I needed to move on from Seaflight's death, and to do that, I needed to leave my old home. There were too many painful memories here.
Loner and I flew away that night, after promising that we would never abandon each other again. As we took flight, I glanced back at the place Seaflight had been buried and whispered two words that only I ever heard.
IT CAN'T END YET!!!! I wanna know what'll happen, and how their new pack will be!! Still, really awesome story! I really enjoyed it. I think you should make a part 2 if you haven't already.
@Radiant I kinda have an idea how part 2 could be. Maybe they meet Snowangel, Natok and some others and they decide to join TT's and Loner's pack? Just an idea, you don't have to use it.
WH DID YOU WRITE THIS!? YOU MADE ME CRY!! XD omgI loved this story! There was so much emotion and action that I was attatched to this! I will also read your oter stories; they must be just as magnificent! :D

(Eryland) Thanks, I'm glad you like it. :)
(Dragonologist) Thank you too! I know it was sad. I wasn't originally planning to kill Seaflight but I wanted a sad-ish ending.
(PSTP) I may write a Part 2 one day, but first I want to write a different character's story.

(PSTP) I might be able to use that idea. I'll think about it. If I don't come up with any good ideas of my own, I'll use yours.
