Beautiful Eyes by $had0w

I got it. I finally had it. My first Pokemon game. I was so eager, I stared intently at the fierce-looking Giritina on the cover of my new Pokemon Platinum game.

I shoved the cartridge into my old, black DS and began playing. I was greeted with the familiar copywright stuff and Giritina's metallic screech at the title screen. I called my character 'Isabel' after myself, obviuosly. Then I saw my rival; his hair and hyper attitude reminded me a lot like my friend, Bryce, so I named my rival after him.

I chose the Chimchar as my starter, played through the beginning, and made my way toward Oreburgh City to get my first badge. I was about to enter the cave that would take me to the town, but a pokemon appeared as I was swerving in and out of the tall grass. But the regular battle music wasn't playing; it was the legendary encounter theme.'That's wierd,' I thought.'They haven't even talked about a legendary yet.' When I saw the mystery pokemon, my heart skipped a beat.

It was a shiny Shinx. I immediately fell in love with it and its golden features, especially its eyes. The eyes were what caught my attention most, like they were calling out to me like a golden pixelated angel. But there was still one problem; shinies didn't have their own theme music. I overlooked this completely because it was the first time I ever played Pokemon.

I caught it almost right after I saw it, and it replaced my Chimchar in my pokemon party. I dominated the gym leaders and elite four with my Shinx, whom of which I idly named 'Gold.' To be honest, it actually took me a while to come up with that name. After I had played through the game almost ten times, all the pokemon in my party were up to level 90, except for Gold; he reached 100. I never let him evolve just so I could stare at the golden pools of his eyes.

I got bored of pokemon after a bit and decided to play my new Sonic the Hedgehog game. The next morning, something terrible happened, my Pokemon Platinum went missing. I searched day and night for almost a week before I gave up hope of ever seeing my beloved pokemon again.

--3 years later--

I was sitting, playing on my new black and blue 3DS when my mom suprised me by handing me my long-lost Pokemon Platinum. I quickly shoved the old cartridge in my 3DS and awaited my first and favorite pokemon.

I was once again greeted by the familiar copywright and all that stuff. But when I clicked start, Giritina's cry sounded a little more eerie than usual, but I guessed it was because the game was pretty old. I waited for the screen to fade up, but a dialogue box popped up instead, saying, "Gold missed you!" "What the heck?" I managed to choke out. I never saw anything like that during my pokemon adventures. The screen faded up in Eterna City; little to my knowledge, that was not the last place I saved.

I wanted to go someplace else, so I went to check on my pokemon party. To my relief, all of my pokemon were still there. Out of curiosity, I checked the summaries of each of my pokemon. Gold seemed happier than normal, which comforted me so far, but that comfort was soon demoloished. All my other pokemon looked like they had frightened expressions, and they all had the status paralyzed. I clikcked on my Tropius to fly somewhere, but the game only replied, "Dino is too paralyzed with fear!"

My eyes widened in surpirse, but that didn't stop me from wanting to get the heck out of there. I went to go east, but as soon as I reached the edge of town, a dialogue box popped up,"Gold doesn't want to go that way." I was astonished by this, so I tried again."Gold doesn't want to go that way." This clearly wasn't going to work, so I went south to go to the bicycle highway. Same results. This was starting to frustrate me, and I only had one choice left; through Eterna Forest.

Just as I reached the entrance of the forest, another dialogue box came up. I groaned thinking that Gold doesn't want to go there either, but something else came up,"Gold wants to show you something!" To my complete suprise, Gold popped out of his pokeball next to my sprite and happily led me into the forest. That had to top anything that happened to me on my pokemon adventures.

I hesitently followed him in, not sure what to expect. I went through the entrance, and I saw him standing in front of the rusty gates of the Old Chateau, an old haunted mansion that looms in the Eterna Forest. I slowly walked up to Gold, hesitently pressing A as I stood in front of him. A dialogue box read,"Do you love me?" Why would he ask me that? He's my most favorite pokemon in the world, I wouldn't even keep him in a PC box for a second! I pressed the 'yes' choice, and I wasn't curious enough to press 'no.'

He then asked,"Do you really, really love me?" Why was he so uncertain? I had to click 'yes.' He then said, "You're lying, aren't you..." I was so flabbergasted, I fumbled with the controls... and accidently clicked 'yes.' "WHAT?!" Gold's eyes, which were once a golden yellow, were now blood-red. A '!' appeared above my character's head, and from that piont I had no control over my character. She narrowly dodged Gold as he leapt at her, and she ran through the gates, continuing on inside the old, wooden house. My character blockaded(?) the door from the inside and slowly backed up from the door. I found I once had control over my character again, and shortly after Gold came barging in.

Using all the gamer skills I had, I skillfully manuevered my character to dodge Gold's attacks and make my way up to the balcony above the first door you see. Once I got up there, I couldn't move my character, not anymore. There was an item pokeball right in front of me and my character went to grab it. "Obtained knife! Put knife in ITEMS pocket." A knife? What in the world was I going to do with a--

BANG! The door behind my character burst open to reveal Gold, but I couldn't call him Gold anymore. His eyes were what scared me the most; they had turned just pure red. He crept up to my character, while she, too, slowly backed up until meeting the balcony's edge. She did an unbalaced moment for an instant, then landed on the floor below with a sickening thunk. I nearly cried while watching blood slowly pour out of my sprite's head just thinking that my dear friend would do this to me. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw her eyes pop back open.

A dialogue box popped up,"What will you do?" What in the world?! What do you mean--then I remembered, the knife. It was incredibly painful for me to do it, but it was the only choice I felt I had. I went to my bag, slowly scrolled down the list of items, and a tear nearly slid down my cheek as I pressed the button. The screen faded to black and stayed that way for what seemed like forever until the screen flashed red as a sickening splat blasted through my speakers, causing me to jump to the cieling of my room. That was then a dialogue box came up leaving me gaping in horror, "Obtained Gold's eye's! Put Gold's eyes in ITEMS pocket."

That was it. I ripped the cartridge out of my 3DS and threw it across the room, staring at it as if it would spring to life. I never wanted to see that game, or Gold, ever again.

--1 month later--

I just got my new Pokemon Y game that just came out about 2 months ago and was so eager to play it. I pushed the new cartridge into my 3DS, awaiting the copywright. But all I got was an unexpected message; the screen was black, a Shinx cry reverbreating in the background, and a dialogue box that read,"i...HaTe...YoU..."

And I just realized I was listening to the song 'I Know You Too Well To Like You Anymore' which the title kind of matches this, sorta.

It's pretty sweet! But... the "do you love me" part is *pretty* cliche and was used in BRVR.

Yeah, I agree, the "Do you love me?" reminded me of BRVR, and the blood red eyes were cliché, but it was really good for the most part. Thanks $had0w for telling me about it, I really enjoyed it.
