Mark testing by SoulShaderDraws

the X adds more color to it alright...The tails are hiding under the scarf making it look like its apart of it.

Really the hair? It never seemed like a problem to me. Just remember don't listen to others too much. They might be trying to help you, but it's just their preference some times. I do the same thing with my sisters pictures, and when she does what she wants it turns out better than what I told her to do. So just do what you think is best for your characters. ^V^

GingerCracker: So you're telling him to ignore constructive criticism? It may just be a preference, but what he's saying is true. Its u to him to decide whether to change it or not. you to tell him to ignore it. you may not want to think that its right, but it is. Retro was simply pointing out ways to improve his character, if you haven't noticed. Lacarma has always been improving mark. Dont tell an artist not to listen to people when they're friends trying to help you out or else you'll continue drawing that should be corrected. Now that retro has brought it up. I agree with him. hair comes from center points of the head and outward, Don't take offense to this, but when I look at Mark, He has spikes coming off at parallel directions, direction where the origin of his hair don't comply. I only agree with the Side picture of mark, however the front and back makes his hair just look pasted on. focus on making the hair flow naturally. that doesn't mean you have to lessen the amount of spikes. look at various anime character's hairs and how they manage. I'm not going to draw a tutorial on this because im busy, but I did draw you a picture of mark once so you can look at that and the way I drew the hair. Don't just look at mark's either, look at all types of character's hair and experiment. The HAIR is one of the most important parts of making a character look good, besides making a bald character, so you have to keep improving on it. Keep an open mind about your art work. Having accurate hair is not a "Preference" It's a must. Sure anime characters have weird hair styles but they have origins and make sense. Retro states that it's in a "How to draw" book so obviously this is something you should practice. Observe hair. If you're coming up with a character of your own, it's the least you can do. You don't know how much times i had to change my character's hair to get it the way it is now
