Awlrighty, ima critique this.
What I see here over all is a black wolf with yellow eyes and scars here and there. It appears to be sitting in snow, and it does look like little stars are falling around it like snowfall. The time of day appears to be night too. But that was quite obvious. The source of lighting looks like the moon or something too.
This is a mostly realistic painting, to my eyes. It’s very well detailed, and the shading and lighting look very nice. The angle makes it appear like it’s looking up at you, or the sky, or the little snow stars. :P
Looking at this painting gives me a calm, slightly mysterious feeling with a little bit of melancholy. That’s all I can kind of say about interpreting this. :B
Now, for my judgment. I have to say that the details of the coat are VERY well done. The shading on it is also fantastic; it makes it look so fluffy. X3 The ears seem a little cat-like for a wolf though. And the scars that are on its body seem a bit odd, like the scars are on the surface of the coat. In a realistic painting like this, the scars on its body wouldn’t even be seen that well, because they would be buried underneath all that fur. The areas where there isn’t as much long fur are fine though.
The pattern of the snow here looks a bit unusual, and the lighting makes it look very grey. Usually, depending on how deep it is and how many critters have stepped in it, it’s either flat, very poofy-like, or jagged here and there. I also see a heart shaped pattern in the snow there, but I’m not sure if that was intended. If it was, then that’s pretty neat. xD Also I don’t see a lot of shadow underneath the paw pressed onto the snow for the front.
And also the angle looks a bit off slightly with the background. That’s a pretty tricky thing to do. Overall though, this is a very well done painting that has a few flaws, but other than that it is a beautiful piece. :D
