Tinker Stinker by Tang

This was originally Elsa, but the drawing was all like nope.
So, guess what? Y'all get Tthis underappriciated fairy instead.
I love Pixie Hollow. It used to be this amazing book series (first is called 'Pixie Dust and the Quest For The Egg'), and the new movies are okay. They toned down the fairies randomly
dropping dead everywhere and the one who chopped off her own wings, but y'know. Can't expect those in a little girls' toy/movie line.
But the books are awesome.

Such a good series. And the illustrations. I love those Disney Fairies illustrations. There was a time in my childhood when I was obsessed with the Tinker Bell movies, but now I realize they almost completely removed Tink's sass alongside everything you just mentioned. I guess they needed their protagonist to *not* be a catty mean girl.

Also, can we talk about how in the first Tinker Bell movie Tink took a baggy leaf poncho thing, and with scissors transformed it into a form-fitting minidress thing
I mean I know fairies are magic, but hOW

Yeah, I was bummed that Prilla nor Rani were in the movies. Why replace the entire supporting cast?! Yeah, it's more marketable to sell a fairy with wings rather than without, but jeez. The only one who made it to the movies is Vidia, and they messed her up.
I still watch the movies, though.

Also, had a breakthrough a few days ago. The collective species are called Pixies, males are Sparrow Men, and females are Fairies.

Hm.

I think they wanted to have a main group of fairies who were diverse, appearancewise. I remember Silvermist (water talent) was my favorite partly because she was Asian, like me, so we looked kind of similar and I felt like I was her. Beck (animal talent) and Rani (water talent) are both blond(ish) and Tink is already blond and blue-eyed. Lily (garden talent) and Fira (light talent) have kind of the same skin tone and hair.
Yeah, so, basically they wanted a fairy from each of five different talents and they wanted them to look different so a lot of little girls could relate to them.

That never occured to me! Makes plenty of sense.
You'd expect an more ethnically diverse Pixie Hollow, if every child's first laugh is a fairy. Perhaps it's just the kids in the U.K.? What if a child in a part of a world never had a fairy-type mythology, and so thus technically never stop believing? Are those fairies immortal? Do they die when the host dies?
Fairies probably only live to around 7 or 8, depending on the kid. Hmmmmmmm
...Thinking this over too hard.

This is bringing back my old phobias that fairies actually do fall down dead when you don't believe in them and that I'm a mass kiIIer. :P

You do bring up some intelligent questions. See, this is why I like taking part in discussion with you. All this is making me want to rewatch the first Tinker Bell movie that I was obsessed with in third grade and reread the Disney Fairies illustrated books that I own...

Also, I why Tink is clearly American even though her laughing baby I'm pretty sure was British.

Laughing baby. Ha. I'm sure there was a term for it, but I seem to have forgotten. I need to go refresh myself with pixie nostalgia.

Also, I don't think a fairy's life depends on her own specific laugher. In Peter Pan 2 (why in the world am I citing this though it's a bad Disney sequel and therefore terribly uncanon by my standards) Tinker Bell was going to die because the Wendy offspring said she didn't believe in fairies. And obviously Tink wasn't born from the Wendy daughter OC girl.

Here's a better source than the silly officially-released-bad-fanfiction-from-Disney: the original quote from J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan says, "Every time a child says 'I do not believe in fairies', there is a fairy somewhere that drops down dead." Which seems to indicate that it's sort of random.

But you know what I really like about the Disney Fairies, though? I think it's the world. The big, expansive world that is only contained by your imagination. (Probably why I like Wreck-It Ralph too, but I digress.) Also, the adventure. Gail Carson Levine wrote those incredible Quest books, and although the short chapter books and the animated movies can't really surpass that, they all have this degree of adventure, or at the very least problem-solving with sizable stakes. (Probably why I like MLP too, but I digress.)

I'm just sayin'. If I had my way, our little girls would be pouring themselves more into worlds with imagination and adventure than worlds about ridiculous fake high school drama and mean girls and cute guys and dances. (Probably why I feel like launching the Equestria Girls human high school horse people franchise was a regressive step, but I digress.)

You digress a lot. XD

And yep, can't come up with anything else to say at the moment. Agree with all you said. dB

That was pretty much my reaction. So they made one EQG movie. Hmmmmeh. It's very obvious that the only real reason for this was to pander to the audience of girls who like that high school drama junk. Well, fine, they made one--BUT NOW IT'S A SERIES ASDFGHJKL; NO

I like how the message is basically "be yourself", and yet all the girls are skinny, tall, and wear short skirts and high boots like they're literally created from a mold or something.

I long to know what Faust thinks of this. I long to know.
