I'm not leaving Colors or anything like that, it's a scene in my head.
This boy, after suffering through a tragity (tragidy?) and lossing everyone he knows, gets adopted by a shapeshifting race, and these things take the shape of the very people he lost.
long story short, he is about to throw the planet into a sun to end the suffering of these shapeshifters from a vampiric shapeshifter that absorbs the mass of the other shapeshifters. both being consumed and living like that is far from painless
