Hello, wekcome to colors!3D. ^-^
The reason I use a red background behind the painting Im working with is because red contrast other colors so you can see the colors more clearly than seen near a white background. You could use this technique especially with white tone colors to see how you should fix the color. I hope that helped, great gallery you have started too! Keep it up!
