Is it me or is everyone getting shinies except me?? I mean, I looked up how to get a shiny pokemon and it said that there's a 1/over 1000 chance to get one. What the heck is going on? I don't even know how to fish. Am I just stupid?

I haven't caught my first shiny on Y. xDD
I have a shiny Seviper but my friend wanted me to have his.
My very 1st shiny out of all the billion shinies I had encountered,was a female pinkish-purple shiny Spheal in Pokemon White. :3

Trust me, now it just looks like I caught it as the gyrados in the Lake of Rage that's ALWAYS shiny.
