Niki sat in a corner of the inn, absent-mindedly running her hands through her golden fur as she watched the crackling fire.

Gustav stared at Niki, not knowing what to say next.

Feather watched silently, her lavender gaze shifting from Gustav to Niki as she thought deeply.

Katya stayed silent as the rest had seemed to do. What was happening between them,she hadn't the slightest.

"So..." Niki rubbed her palms together. "What are you two doing in Chygo? You're not the types that usually live around here..." she turned to Gustav.

(i think we can assume Bry got away...)

"Well..." Niki looked around akwardly, at a loss for words. "Since we're here, we might as well get to know each other better..."

Katya tapped her fingers on the table impatiently, waiting for something beneficial to her wallet to possibly happen. She looked around the inn languidly and took in her surroundings.

Katya looked at Niki and nodded. "I suppose that'd be better than just sitting here." She shrugged and turned in her seat, the pegs squawking on the floor.

"I guess," Niki agreed. "So, what brings you here? I'm guessing you don't live in Chygo..."

Kat shook her head. "No, I don't. In fact, I used to be from a small, farming town until bandits ransacked it." (I just had to completely make that up. XD I don't even know if it fits in your world, seeing as how the one she comes from is quite different.)

(it fits. well, it used to be pretty much like earth until there was a huge war that wiped our most of the planet, and everything went bad. there are slightly different animals here (of course, the anthros, and then some creatures similar to dragons, also normal 4-legged creatures too.))

"Oh." Niki sighed. "It's hard to find a place that's safe nowadays. I was born here, and was lucky enough to avoid the worst part of the war, but I've been an orphan for many years now." she hesitated, then asked, "Do you have parents?"

Kat nodded. "Yes, everyone does... but I'd only known my biological parents the first seven years of my life. I have an adoptive father..." She paused and looked at Niki. "I don't believe you've told me your name." (XD I can't remember.)

"Oh, I must have forgotten..." she laughed quietly. "My name is Niki."

(ok. you can have Bry make it to the inn, so they can meet each other.)

(oh, ok... i guess we might not rp much longer, with only two people...we'll see if anyone else shows up...:/)

Kat nodded. "Hm." She looked around as if there were cue cards stuck to the wall, hinting at what she should say next. "You have any.... I've got nothing..."

"Huh?" Niki looked at Katya, not quite understanding. "So...why are you here? I mean, Chygo's not exactly the nicest city..."

Katya nodded. "Exactly. Plenty of people want people dead, but don't want the hassle of remouving the body. That's where I come in." She grinned, her full set of teeth showing.

"Hah..I guess there is a lot of work here." Niki returned the grin, playing with a ring pulled out of her pocket.

(Wooo! More people! XD)

Katya's grin receded into a less hostile expression. She eyed the ring. "Lemmie guess, you're a pickpocket." She looked up from the smooth metal ring.

(XD Hopefully it was super effective.)

"You could put it that way." Niki placed the ring on the table. "I do other things too, though."

Katya squinted. "Pickpocket aannnd... merc? I'm sorry, you just look the type." She was tempted to sna.tch the ring and run, but she knew that wouldn't do her much good. Better to have friends then enemies.

"Among (lol sp?) other things." Niki caught Katya's eye. "And don't bother with the ring. It's brass." she smiled.

(yaaay!)

Katya loosened up after the comment about the ring. "You're a real good people's person, aren't you? I can't decipher body language worth the cost of that ring." She drew her mouth up tight. "That's why I don't bother with helping people."

(Yayyyy!)

Niki shrugged. "It comes with the job, I guess. If you can't read someone then you won't get very far."

Kat shrugged. "True." She stands, now, wanting to get out of this smelly inn into the blustery streets to clear her mind and go back to the small, one room condo she called home. "Quick question, where exactly do you live? I mean by that, the general area. East, west?"

"A small apartament on the western edges, right by the dried-up river bed." Niki leaned back slightly. "I'm not there often, though." The wolf shrugged. "And you?"

Kat pointed in the direction that was roughly west. "Little condo, west side, I own it. I don't like borrowing. It doesn't suit me."

Niki smiled and stood up too. "Same here." she looked out grimy the window. "It's getting dark..." she rubbed her hands together. "Well, I guess I should get going as well." The hours just before nightfall were the best time of day to get things done.

Kat bowed slightly and strode towards the exit, pondering how good this buisness transaction could be for her ever needy wallet. She opened the worn wooden door and continued down the cobbled street, hoping to find an easy route home from this inn.

Niki tossed a few coins on the table and left, closing the heavy door behind her. Setting off at a brisk pace, she looked around, searching for a potential target.

Katya wove through the think throng of people, all doing last-of-the-day shooping and now starting to head home as Katya herself was doing.

Niki wove through the crowd, slightly dissapointed. Nobody she saw seemed to be carrying anything of worth. ( @oak, can Niki walk past your character's house?)

Katya sighed as she saw that the anthro traffic got thicker. She rolled her eyes and turned right around. (XD I don't want her to be alone, it's boring.)

As Niki walked along the edge of the street, she heard strange noises coming from one of the doorways. Cautiously slipping into the shadows, she paused to listen.

Listening to what was happening inside, Niki decided to hang around a bit longer. Curious of the reaction of those inside, the wolf drew her fingers across the bead curtain, rattling it slightly.

(May I bring in Kat's friend, [Reginald] Zink? Kat's not doing much anymore. XD He's a ibizan/malamute mix.)

(sure, no prob. i guess she could also end up passing Bry and Niki...)

Niki's ears slid forward as she listened.

Flinching at the bang, Niki retreated back into the shadows, golden tail twitching. /Best not to go inside,/ she decided, fingering the handle of her short knife.

(Reggie's a he. XD)

Tucking his pocket back in just like his mother always said was completely nessesary, Reginald, otherwise known by his last name: Zink, was walking down the crowded streets towards the park in hopes of finding dropped change there. On his way, however, he'd seen a tent and just as he was walking by, a gunshot rang out. He flinched and continued warily towards the tent from which the shot seemed to come from.

Niki leaned against the wall, wondering what to do. The gunshot hadn't sounded good... Ready to run, the wolf cautiously peered inside.

(x'D i meant Katya.)

Jumping back, Niki slid into the crowd, trying to get a better look at the anthro that had stepped outside.

Katya ended up turning down the same street she started and cursed sillently. She continued walking, now not caring where she ended up, but she ended up coming across two familiar faces now. One, a childhood friend, another, the same wolf she'd met today. "What're the odds...?" She mumbled as she stepped towards the tent they seemed to be flocking around.

"Oh, Katya!" Niki turned as she noticed the husky. "I thought you were heading home?"

( @mcr: Bry was kidnapped (kinda) by @Oak's character. Katya and Niki finished talking and left the inn, but they ended up in front of the tent where Bry was taken, and they are just meeting a friend of Kat's. oh, and Saki (did i spell that right?) has a gun.)

Katya shrugged. "Stupid pedestrians got in the way..." Just as she said this, some memory in Zink's head flicked on and he turned his head towards the husky clad in red leather, the same person he hadn't seen in three years, but longed to for the whole duration of their distance. He trotted happily over to the two canids. "Kat?" He said in his usual, quiet manner. Kat pretended to ignore him and continued speaking to Niki. "What's going on in the tent?" She cast a sideways glance at the ram who just exited.

(Okie, um... how should Feath and Gus jump in?)

Zink jumped at the ram's words. "N-no sir, I'm not terribly fond of taking without permission..." He lowered his eyes as well as his ears. (Sorry I type so much. XD)

Niki shook her head quickly, wondering what would sound most beliavable. "Just passing by." she lowered her stance slightly. The goat was too close to fire accurately, and the wolf was ready to take advantage of that.

Katya nodded then turned to the goat, once again ignoring Zink's existance beside her completely, and not entirely on purpose; he did look akin to quite a few others.

Gustav and Feather walked down the sidewalk, close together. Feather looked at her feet, deep in thought. Gustav, however, was looking around, and he saw some familiar faces.

Zink furrowed his brow. "Are you okay, sir? You seem kind of.... troubled... in the head...." He had tried his pitiful best to not make that sound offensive. Of course, as always, it did.

Niki relaxed slightly. She wondered how to react to Sakio's statement- few people could tell when she was lying.

(I'm gonna go draw... not in the mood to RP... sorry... :c )

Niki whipped around to face the stranger, an annoyed grimace appearing on her lips. "Now look what you've done-"

(no problem, it's okay.)

Kat stuck her hands in her pockets. "Why'd you fire the gun? It convinced a lot of people to run, causing my progress of walking to my home to slow drastically."

Niki was silent, watching the anthro swallow the pills. She didn't recognise them, few people around could afford medicine.

Zink put a finger to the chest. "Me, ma'am? I'm sorry, but I didn't mean to do anything...." He poked Kat. "Right, Kat?" Kat grumbled incomprehensable mutterings and faced Zink. "Yeah, sure." She turned back to the tent.

"You know him?" Niki was surprised, but she didn't take her eyes off the box of pills.

Zink looked down, then scooted a little closer to the tent. *Medicine? Maybe for the mind? Maybe that's why he lives in a tent...*

Katya quickly glanced at Niki. "Yeah... he's quite the bother..." She focused back on the pill canister, not wanting this mad goat to whip out his gun again.

Kat grunted. "Tell me then, what does this 'medicine' do? Is that just your way of saying hallucinagens?(sp?)"

"Be quiet." Niki snapped, worrying the comment would anger the goat. "I'm surprised you can afford it." she turned to Sakio, rubbing her wrists thoughtfully.

(she's talking to Zink)

Katya stayed silent now, taking Niki's advice to heart, while Zink pondered why he was such a "bother".

"You make it?" Niki wasn't expecting that. "Do you sell it too?"

Niki shrugged. "Depends what it does." She doubted she would buy any, but was curious as to its workings and worth.

Zink looked at the goat. "How much of an offer?" He stuck his hand into his back pocket to grab his handmade wallet if need be. Kat rolled her eyes. "You don't even know what it does..." She mumbled to Zink.

Niki leaned forward to peer at the anthro struggling on the ground. "Who's she?" the wolf wondered, sliding her hand into one of the many pockets that lined her long coat.

Zink raised his hand, which was completely unessesary, as he started talking anyways. "Can it regenerate memories? I think Kat may need some of that." At this he chuckled while Katnwas resisting the urge to break his snout.

Kat noticed movement in the corner of the tent. "Ya' got a hostage?" She looked back up at the goat.

Kat nodded, understanding. "Oh."

"Anything?" Niki's eyes narrowed slightly. "Even the Infection?" (in this world normal infections are rare, but theres a highly contagious, dangerous disease known by the same name. the last of the semi-radioactive explosions wiped out most known diseases. :/)

(Is it radioactivity? The infection, I mean.)

Shaking herself off, Niki focused on the vial. "Poisons?..." she grinned. "Hm, that reminds me..." Ignoring the growling anthro, she ruffled through the bag at her side. "I have something that might interest you..."

(a combination of radioactivity with something similar to chicken pox)

Zink went quiet at the mention of the infection. He'd known a few who'd suffered this condition and hadn't made it. (Dang, I'm so motivated to write my story now, but it's a bit like yours. XT I came up with all the ideas three years ago and refined them since then.)

(oh... hm... i didn't know. well, the main story (not the rp version) does take a few unexpected twists, so they might end up completely different. i've been thinking it over for quite a while, but i've only started sharing it recently...)

Katya looked down her nose imeriously at the anthro on the floor of the tent. Before taking her eyes off the tent and its inhabitant, she noticed the blade and understood what this dog wanted. To maim. /Maybe, once she's free, we'll discuss buisness transactions./

(I know you didn't know, I just don't want people saying that I stole ideas or something, that's all. :p)

Zink looked down to the dog. "I don't know..." He said quietly. "I'm just curious about this guy's medicine..." Zink nodded his head at Saki.

Even though she saw the movement, Niki's grin didn't fade. She straightened up, holding a tiny glass vial. An iridiscent liquid gleamed inside. "The Water." she explained. "You've probably heard of it before. "People say it's magic and so on, with it's ability to create visions of the past and future." her voice was quiet. "It's not, but believe me, it does work."

( @simon: i guess, but we'll be finishing up pretty soon. you can definately join the next one, though.)

Kat turned her head to look at the vial of Water. "So that's what it does.... I guess I wouldn't mind knowing who my parents were..." Zink peeked over her shoulder as well to get a better glance at it.

Niki sighed. "I've had it for a while now." she admitted. "I guess I'm afraid of what I could see if I used it." the wolf sighed.

Niki shrugged. "Depends how much you have to offer...and how mmuch you want." the vial gleamed in her hands.

"Seems like you're eager to get this, eh?" Niki laughed quietly. "Let me see those." she walked over to check out the contents of the two boxes.

Niki uncapped a few of the vials and sniffed their contents. "Pretty strong for handmmade medicine..." she muttered. Finally she straightened up. "Two spoonfulls." she declared.

Niki sniffed. "Yeah? Well at least I'm not the one laying on the floor..."
(sorry, but we need to wrap this up in a bit, i have to go soon. :/)

"Here you are." Niki pulled out a smaller, empty vial and poured some of the iridiscent liquid in. "Make good use of it." she smiled slightly as she made the exchange.
