what does the mermaid like to do in her free time? if she sings or plays an instrument, she might have some music (maybe on stone since paper doesn't do too well underwater :) ) or maybe she likes to draw--she could have art supplies like pencils or chalk. she might like making jewelry and have strings and beads, or she could have a collection of something like shells, or anenomes, or anything else--it all depends on her personality
