I think I can answer the above question easily- Wolves are really popular, considered "cool"
by society, and have generally angular facial structures making them more simple to draw.

I tend to avoid affiliation with MOST of these, though I get pulled in a lot by 2, 3, and 4. The TLC one, though? I thought what I spewed about fandoms was ignorant bumsmear. They want nothing more than to sensationalize and obtain money, and they don't care who's reputation they stomp to get it.

I do it partially because I'd like to resemble my persona, partially because it avoids the uncanny valley effect when drawing styalized, and partially because it was a vizual representation of the way I was feeling at my Persona's creation, displayed to the world metaphorically rather than realistically.
As for my Fursona, it's just a main RP character I liked using, and my Ponysona is my Persona in the form of a pony purely to show myself within the brony fandom. :3

Hmmm, all seem like valid reasons besides the last few. XD I certainly don't have any mental issues (besides being awkwardly shy.XD) Why I have a "fursona?"(mine really don't represent me) I've just had an extreme affinity for animals. At first, they were owls, but Hatena didn't like owls, so I had switched to wolves, but now am migrating (no pun intended) back to birds.

@Incadicey: I'd rather not answer the first question, it's a REALLY awkward question.... As for your second question: there may be several reasons. CrazyRiverOtter already covered two of the reasons, but it can also be that the person sees the wolf as some-sort of personal totem or spirit animal. Also, the person may choose the wolf because they like dogs, but dogs aren't edgey enough so they decide to use a wolf. Wolves have always been a large part of our myths, and this reflects upon people even to this era.

@CrazyRiverOtter: Yeah, the last three theories are the common mainstream theories used by armchair critics and over confident PHd psycologists, I included them as a way to show what some other people think. TLC, from what I've seen, has a weird habit of pushing out shows which go "look at the freaks, aren't they WEIRD?!" it's somewhat like TV's version of those old Carnival Side-Shows. It's never objective, instead of just showing a slice of life they have to put in a string of doctors and shrinks who over-explain why said person is not normal and mentally deranged.

It kinda began as the theory on being unable to draw humans...but as of recently (please don't be mean, guys :c ) I've come to believe I'm a therian and my animal's a domestic cat...something just feels right about that idea.

Also, even though I've begun to learn to draw humans, people still recognize me as my furrrrrsona, lovable little Passion xP

A bunch of furries, bronies, etc. get turned on by super weird things. Maybe not necessarily beastiality, but weird things.

I'd also like to say statistics have shown that only very small parts of said fandoms are like that.

I love this vid & your takes on this interesting topic. Whenever I design a new OC, avatar or persona, I always like to incorporate parts of me & my life - favourite color schemes/patterns, preferred clothing styles, certain interests, personality traits, backstory, etc. - into their designs. Since my online name is Heart, that's the name of all of my personas & they all have a heart-themed object/accessory.
My most used personas are my UT Skelesona, my Irksona and my Fae Donkeycorn Fursona ^^
