Harvesting turnips.
That was all there was to life. All I ever did. Turnips, turnips, turnips. Planting them, growing them, harvesting them, rinse and repeat.
And I hated it.
It was so monotonus. Day in, day out, nothing but turnips. Not even the occasional potato to mix it up. Such is the life of a turnip farmer. Well, a turnip farmer in training. Uncle still owned the place. At some point the geezer got it in his head the town needed more of the dreaded vegetable.

So good dude. I see your book is first person. I considered this for Stones of the Sky, but i think of my book like a game. If i did mine first person, some of my events would be troublesome to write. But, the way you described his hatred to the fruit of the ground known as the turnip is good. Makes me want to know about the characters in the town. BTW, my equivelent to ur farm area is Minuti, a farm town that is used to Feed the people of Colossus. It is ruled by dictators known as the Council. It farms cabbage, lettuce, apples, peaches, carrots, and other foods.
