Not quite, actually. Pity-kun found Gloomy Bear in a cardboard box when he was just a cub. Pity took him home and cared for him and loved him, but things turned sour when Gloomy Bear got bigger. Gloomy's brutal wild animal side came out and he turned on Pity, nearly beating the crap out of the poor kid. But throughout everything, no matter what Gloomy did, Pity continued to love him :]
