Eph 5:8

(Continuing the conversation here, to keep it separate from the WIR/Incredibles comments.)

I think it would make an interesting story if Litwak's arcade shut down. After all, arcades are quickly disappearing now that we have smartphones and tablets and handhelds and home consoles and all that good stuff.

Kiraichu

01 Feb, 2014, 7:36 pm

Ah you're right. I beliefe I read an article about handhelds. What would become of Vanellope and the crew though? Would they find a way to attract people into the arcades again?? Hmm...if characters could game jump via the power port then they can theoretically jump into portables while they're charging!!

Eph 5:8

01 Feb, 2014, 7:58 pm

No worries. I'll just keep checking here periodically. -u-

That could work, but what if they learned that the arcade cabinets and machines were going to be sold off to collectors, or something? Would they still leave? If they left, then I assume a collector would receive a non-working game cabinet...

Additionally, I wonder if Litwak would keep the Fix-It Felix, Jr. cabinet. He seems to be quite fond of it.

Kiraichu

01 Feb, 2014, 8:08 pm

Hmm...I don't know if you watched Toy Story 3 but it might end up something like that. Where the arcade games are seperated(Poor Ralph won't see Vanellope anymore if this happens) forever . They'd have to choose between their job and their friendship...What if they discover the internet?? A way to jump into all kinds of games!! Like my theory of them going thtough the charging cable of a portable like a 3ds.

Eph 5:8

01 Feb, 2014, 8:35 pm

Who hasn't seen Toy Story 3? ^^ In fact, that's kind of what I was going for. Andy grows out of toys, America grows out of ol'-fashioned arcades...

As for the Internet, that's also another thing I was thinking about! Mental synchronization.

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 1:24 am

Synchronizatiom!! Who would you think the villain would be this time around though?? With the idea of the arcade closing it seems the Arcade Keeper is the villain without meaning to be.

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 1:24 am

Synchronization*

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 2:38 am

No...Mr. Litwak could never be a villain. :P He's too cool. (Walking around with several stacks of quarters just in case someone needs a refund, 2cool4me.)

It might be able to stand on its own without a villain, the main conflict being that the Core Four are separated. But...I guess we always need a villain. I wonder if it would be another "surprise" villain, like Lotso or King Candy.

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 2:46 am

UNINTENTIONAL Villain. XD Like he isn't actually bad but he doesn't know that. Wait....I have an idea! What if...what if the game characters are forced to break the law like the toys did in the original toy story. A way to convince him not to close the arcade down. Or to get his attention. To let him know there is 'life' behind that screen.

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 3:30 am

Hm...well, closing the arcade down would be a matter of business. It costs too much to have all the electricity and stuff if people stop coming to play the games.

And what happened with Sid is that he became afraid of toys. If Mr. Litwak thought video game characters were talking to him, he'd probably think he'd gone cuckoo (like his nana) and be even more likely to close the arcade... Good thought though.

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 3:45 am

True. True...this is why discussion is good. haha. But he must have really deep feelings for his arcade. Perhaps an introduction of human character to stop the arcade from closing?? Kids always influence things pretty well in my opinion when it comes to stopping things.

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 4:16 am

Ohhh boy, the "new character" discussion. *deep exhale*

I'm not gonna lie, I have somewhat of a prejudice against new characters. I think I just don't like it when they rush new characters and expect me to care about them and love them. And think I'll automatically have pity for them if they just give a character some kind of tragic backstory. (Sergeant Calhoun's character made fun of the pointless tragic backstory stereotype.)

The idea of a human character works, but that would mean the story isn't completely from the video game characters' point of view anymore. And I'd miss that greatly... I wonder if there's some way that the characters could save themselves...

One thing that Disney must promise me is this: They will NOT center a sequel's plot around "Ralph gets a girlfriend". That did not work for Desplcable Me 2. DM2 was funny, yeah, but it was just missing the EMOTION and the STORY the first one had.

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 4:42 am

Haha. You are very smart and know full well with what you're talking about. Pretty hard to argue about with you since you have a very good point. :p The ralph gets a girl thing would be cliche and I agree that there is magic to life behind screen without interference from the outside. That's where the internet would replace that necessity to interact with humans. Only question that leaves us where would they go if they abandon their arcade games? Would they go to the same game but have to encounter copies of themselves? Would those copies let them stay in their world?

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 4:56 am

Aw, shucks, thanks. I like discussing with you. ^-^

Copies of them, of course, is an interesting idea. Like Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story. I just think it might be slightly unoriginal, since Toy Story already did that...

I don't know where they'd go...I'll keep thinking about that. Oh, another thing: I wouldn't want the Core Four to be split up into Ralph and Vanellope, Felix and Calhoun for most of the movie. I'd like to explore the relationships between all of them more thoroughly. (I can see Felix treating Vanellope like the little girl she is, which she might not appreciate, and Ralph and Calhoun constantly throwing snide remarks at one another.)

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 5:37 am

The interesting thing about copies is that they show what they originally were programmed to be like. What was the original Vanellope actually like? Was she a really rude princess or the same without the tragedy? I read they wanted to put Mario more in the next movie. Which means the whole felix getting his hammer stolen by Bowser is very possible. Perhaps a villain convinced Bowser to steal it in promise of something great. The problem with them putting Mario, as they stated in the article, is that they already have a plumber. Do you think Mario could help the sequel? Oh and whenever you want to stop discussing just say so. I don't want to take away too much of your time despite how much fin this is discussing :p

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 5:57 am

AHAHA. YES. Original-programming Vanellope. Now that would be interesting.

Mario could play a short part in the sequel, much like Sonic did, but he shouldn't be a main focus or anything. This movie isn't about Mario, or Sonic, it's about Disney's pretend made-up video game characters. Which is why they probably couldn't use Bowser as an antagonist. Besides, what use is Felix's hammer, anyway? He needs it for his game, yes, but if his game is already out of order, he doesn't exactly NEED it... And besides, what if it was automatically with him all the time, or he was the only one who could actually use it?

I suppose I just feel like with a conflict like Felix's hammer getting stolen, there's not much at stake. There's nothing really to be lost. In WIR, Ralph and Vanellope's friendship, Vanellope's life--heck, the entire ARCADE, were all at stake.

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 5:58 am

And I'm enjoying this conversation--don't worry.

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 6:24 am

Well without the hammer there is no Fix-it-Felix. My friends have discussed if ONLY Felix can use the hammer. That's something I want to see in the next movie. I brought up the question: What if felix hits somebody like zombie with the hammer? Would he turn human? Now that I think about it...what if Felix hit Vanellope with it!? Would she lose her glitching powers!??

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 8:05 am

Well, my answer to this is no. Because Zombie is already "fixed"--he was meant to be a zombie. He's not broken. There's nothing to fix.

And with Vanellope, it was her code that was messed up. A magic hammer can't fix code. A magic hammer is MADE of code. Felix's hammer only fixes things that are physically broken. It couldn't do anything to Vanellope.

Think of it this way. You are a game developer. You make a game and create a magic hammer in it. You program the hammer so that it can fix things in the game that break, like boxes, or houses or something. You have a file in your game that gets corrupted and glitchy and doesn't work anymore. Can you use the magic hammer that you created to fix that file? Of course you can't. Your hammer doesn't actually have fixing abilities. It's just programmed to repair in-game objects.

Whew. Sorry for bad explaining.

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 8:48 am

Remember the fudgeon's cell bars? How come Felix was able to fix that? Was it programmed to be rusty?? I know how you feel about Ralph getting a girl but what if they try getting Van a boyfriemd? I personally think Vabellope is an independent type. Not really needing that kinda affection. On a different note. She made a democracy and is currently president. What if someone else was running for president in the next game? Would that affect the story dramatically?

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 2:48 pm

Maybe the chocolate bars were being melted by some kind of heat and got thinner over time. I don't know. To answer the question logically, it happened for the same reason that Ralph's double stripe didn't break until he and Vanellope had finished their conversation ("Double stripe!"). Because the movie writers thought it was funny and were willing to sacrifice the "rules" of the game world to make those jokes.

Now, to be honest, I kind of ship Vanellope with Rancis. Okay, "ship" isn't the right word for it. I just think they're cute together, although I could never imagine anything more than them having little baby crushes on one another. But, I agree, I don't think she should get a boyfriend. She doesn't need one. She's nine. Nine-year-olds don't need boyfriends. Like you said, she's independent. I can't actually picture it happening, to be honest.

The next game? What do you mean by that? I don't think it would be much trouble for Van unless someone was trying to run against her in her *own* Sugar Rush game. Like Taffyta or something.

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 3:09 pm

Sorry for the 'game' comment. I meant movie!! :p Like the next Wreck-it-Ralph!!! They actually reveal her age in the movie? I don't remember this. ha

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 3:17 pm

I believe being in a an actual race for presidency may actually happen! What if that's how they decide who the president is? I know it sounds silly but it's a possibility. :p Rancis is adorable but I don't know much about him to see him and Vanellope in the long run like you said. Wait a minute...if someone else could be president wouldn't that mean if Van left the game it wouldn't affect the game so much if she decided to go to stay at Ralphs if the arcade was closing??

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 3:34 pm

It wasn't in the movie, but her age was established by the website, the artbook, and her voice actor.

It could happen, but Vanellope was programmed to be the leader, so I don't know if anyone would really try to challenge her authority. I buess Taffyta would.

Hm, yeah. But someone might notice she was gone, if they had played Sugar Rush with her avatar before. (Also I think Vanellope is the most competent of the racers and anyone else as president might not be very helpful.)

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 3:34 pm

*guess

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 3:54 pm

Question about King Candy(not Turbo). I think I heard somewhere he actually was a real character until Turbo took him over to disguise himself. Do you think this is true? If so I believe this could be very vital to the story or at least siginificant.

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 4:01 pm

According to the director, Rich Moore, Turbo made King Candy up. He didn't exist before. However, someone noticed that after Sugar Rush resets and Vanellope is princess, the popcorn box where the ruler stands before races still has the initials "KC" on it. This is probably just a case of them not changing it because either they didn't notice or they didn't think it was important.

If the director says something, that makes it canon, so I'm going with "Turbo made King Candy up".

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 5:14 pm

Oh my gosh...you have your resources so ready! I'm really impressesed. :) Alright. I wanted to know about that so much. haha. Hmm...so far we havebthe- internet to work out of. We don't want Ralph to get a gf to be the cliche path. Felix ended up getting a wife yet it didn't really hinder the story. It let us explore Sugar Rush more with laffy taffy amd Nesquik sand. What if they DO decide to go the Ralph gets a girl route but allows exploration of parts in a game where you'd normally wouldn't be able to see? Because in a game of racing you wouldn't encounter laffy taffy or the Nesquik sand.

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 5:58 pm

Well, I havrn't been obsessed with this movie for the whole past year for nothing... ^-^

I'm not *completely* against Ralph getting a lady friend. It just makes me worry a little because sequel romances, I feel, tend to have a bad track record. But...if they were SOMEhow able to pull it off...it could work. As long as Vanellope isn't cut out of the equation. Ralph and Vanellope's relationship is always first and foremost.

Kiraichu

02 Feb, 2014, 6:55 pm

Aww. I really liked this movie and how unique it felt. That's why I saddened when they didn't make a good company make thr video game amazing. Hmm...how would Vanellope fit into the equation? Would she feel like Ralph doesn't care anymore. A better question from me would be "Is Vanellope like a daughter to Ralph or little sister?".

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 9:11 pm

It can be seen either way, and honestly there's a bit of a combination of both. But I believe it definitely leans more toward the big brother-little sister side of the spectrum (If your game goes out of order, you're goin' down with the ship, little sister!").

Yeah, I'm not sure how that would play out. Some people might interpret Van as the type to just tease Ralph incessantly, some think she might try to *help* him get a girlfriend, some think she'd try to split him up with any girl he so much as had a deep conversation with. And in my opinion all of them are justified and I can see all of them happening... Yeah I don't know.

Eph 5:8

02 Feb, 2014, 9:12 pm

By the way, the video game makes me sad too. It had so much potential...

Kiraichu

03 Feb, 2014, 1:40 am

I should draw my sadness towards the video game!! As for Vanellope I can see her seeing Ralph observing how happy Felix is. Like the first movie feeling left out by the nicelanders. He suddenly feels alone despite having the most adorable friend in the world. The question leaving to this would be. What kind of girl should Ralph's girlfriend be?? Should she be a character with brute force? Or an elegant princess? I have no idea how the girlfriend would be.

Eph 5:8

03 Feb, 2014, 2:41 pm

That is a pretty good question. ;P An elegant lady might make an interesting contrast. Kind of like that Ralph/Elsa ship some people are into.

Kiraichu

03 Feb, 2014, 3:34 pm

Someone to teach him to be a gentleman?? It's going go be strange for Ralph. X) Oh by the way. Keep alert for a Wreck-it-Ralph drawing I'll upload next. It was inspired by this conversation!! So you know you took part of the existence of it. :) I'd think Ralph would want someone like Ana from Frozen actually. She's fun, energetic, full of life, and overall very happy. That'd make Ralph do that smile thing he does in a blue moon.

Eph 5:8

03 Feb, 2014, 11:53 pm

WIR art? YAY!

Well, you'd certainly be the first Ralph/Anna shipper I've ever heard of. -u- I think Vanellope is already energetic enough. Don't want to give Ralphie an extrovertion overload. But I could see it...

But I do make a point of not shipping characters that already have a good canon love interest. So Anna and Kristoff for me. :)

Kiraichu

04 Feb, 2014, 2:28 am

YES. I will show in the description that it's dedicated to our conversation. For the record I'm not shipping Ralph and Ana I'm saying Ralph maybe would like that kinda girl. :p I'm not sure but would you ever want to do a WIR collaboration. We both have a strong for this movie after all. :) Hmm...is there any video game character YOU'D like to see in the sequel!? :)

Eph 5:8

04 Feb, 2014, 4:24 am

Collabs, art trades, requests, whatever. I'm all for it. ;D

Well, uh...for someone who owns a 3DS and whose favorite movie is Wreck-It Ralph, I'm not much of a gamer, admittedly. ^^; I guess I wouldn't mind seeing more Sonic characters, like Tails, Knuckles or Amy. An Animal Crossing reference would be most welcome. Yeah.

Kiraichu

04 Feb, 2014, 4:51 am

Oh. Coool. I would love to do a collaboration with you involving WIR at least once. Did not know you didn't play much games haha. Oh my. What made you decide to follow me? It's honor to have such an incredible artist as a follower! ^-^ Did you see the Disney short at the end of the Wreck-it-ralph movie? I thought it was adorable.

Eph 5:8

04 Feb, 2014, 5:19 am

Because the WIR fandom is facing extinction and I need to keep in close contact with the remaining survivors. ;P You mean Paperman? Indeed it was adorable.

Kiraichu

04 Feb, 2014, 5:27 am

Yes the paperman! It made me happy. :D Well...I will host a certain contest to spark the fandom again, trust!! Would you like to join the contest??

Eph 5:8

04 Feb, 2014, 6:25 am

What is it going to be about? :D Besides Wreck-It Ralph of course. Is there a theme at all?

Kiraichu

04 Feb, 2014, 6:32 am

Actually for this one there's going to be three winners. The funniest, most tragic, and the most unique. I want to see all sorts of art. So having three subjects would surelymbring that right? Any suggestions I can add to the competition? :)

Eph 5:8

04 Feb, 2014, 7:09 am

We need a "cutest" categoy. That's something we need.

Also, you should have contestants leave a comment to say which category they're going to try for. That way, people are more likely to spread out.

Are you allowed to have more than one entry? And are you going to make this contest strictly canon characters?

Kiraichu

04 Feb, 2014, 7:18 am

Having more than one entry? I was thinking no. The cutest? i bet people would just spam Vanellope. X) Should I make it so Vanellope can't compete in the cutest contest? That way different characters can be drawn. :D As for Canon...I was thinking to stricly canon. Unless you have a reason why I should allow otherwise.

Kiraichu

04 Feb, 2014, 8:09 am

Oh and the only reason I didn't respond to your comment about Vanellope only having three fingers is because I didn't know she only had three fingers. I was blown away! I couldn't respond. I was petrified at the discovery. :p

Eph 5:8

04 Feb, 2014, 2:36 pm

I agree with all of your rules. This will be a great contest.

Heh. It's all right. I'm not sure why a lot of cartoon characters have only four fingers anyways. Probably because it makes drawing them simpler (especially for classic animation) and you can draw only four without it looking really weird. (Three fingers wouldn't look right. :P)

Eph 5:8

04 Feb, 2014, 3:00 pm

By the way, you should also require two or more characters, or at least say you get bonus points for having two or more.

I hope you get some of pictures of characters DOING stuff, and not just posing, but oh well.
^-^; Maybe you get bonus points for using different facial expressions and clever situations.

Kiraichu

05 Feb, 2014, 12:43 am

I'll make sure to post that I'll give significant attention to more than just poses. The two character rule should be applied. Is it so it improves their overall skills?? Hey do you have an OC? I love drawing OC's. : )

Eph 5:8

05 Feb, 2014, 12:57 am

Having two characters means that an artist has to work harder to organize the composition/layout. But more importantly, it means the two characters can play off one another and create some funny or cute situations.

Uh, well, it actually brings me more joy if someone draws a canon character instead of an OC. Even if it's my OC. I'm not obsessed with my OCs like other people are. I like making AU versions of already-existing characters, does that count? :P

Kiraichu

05 Feb, 2014, 1:15 am

Oh. I've noticed that about you. Maybe that makes you unique in this Colors 3D world. :p AU characters would technically count since they're not the actual characters. :p I only have one OC and I like making him argue with Vanellope a lot. :p But don't know if people would want to see that.

Eph 5:8

05 Feb, 2014, 1:42 am

I don't know, I think it's just because I love the characters that were already there, y'know? Not that I'm completely against OCs, but when it gets to a point where there's more fanstuff for the made-up OCs than the canon characters, it makes me kind of sad... (I'm looking at you, Sonic fandom.)

I want to call them fan characters, because if you think about it, the TRUE original characters are the ones that existed originally. :P

Personally, I wouldn't mind too hugely about your OC and Van bickering. It only makes me feel a little awkward if someone puts their OC along with all the other main characters, as if to show that their OC deserves to be a part of the main group. Seems a little self-entitled to me, but I do my best not to judge. ^-^;

Kiraichu

05 Feb, 2014, 1:55 am

I get ya. Wanna know something? I'm actually afraid if I ever get really high in followers. I don't want to become one of those artists who don't respond to his followers. LOL. The Sonic fandom is a mess. X) It's a really bad idea to release paintings during the weekdays right? Can you draw realistically? I would like to get good enough to draw a realistic Vanellope actually or even a realistic King Candy. XD

Eph 5:8

05 Feb, 2014, 2:09 am

Funny, I was thinking about that just today. Wondering what it would be like to have less than 20 followers again. I decided I would actually enjoy being humbled like that--I don't want people to think I'm self-absorbed because of my follower count. I'd rather have a few followers who enjoy leaving comments rather than hundreds who will 'like' anything I post, no matter what it is... ^-^;

Oh, you mean painting? Like lineless painting? I've tried before. It's rather time consuming. *_*

Kiraichu

05 Feb, 2014, 2:31 am

I don't think I'll ever get thatbfar in followers but I would feel empty. I love the responses to my dumb drawings like Mega Spinda. XD There's beauty in the humor of the comments. :) Question! What is your drive for drawing?? :) Oh and people don't just 'like' your drawings. You have very lovely art. Which is why I follow you. If I get big enough I want to help really good artists get noticed. :)

Eph 5:8

05 Feb, 2014, 3:22 am

My drive for drawing would probably be the feelings I have, the messages I want to give, and my desire to make people laugh. A lot of times those are all intertwined. I was given a talent, and I can use it to help people, cheer them up, give them something they can relate to. I think I just really love people, too. I believe humans are works of art in and of themselves, and maybe that's why I'm so drawn to drawing people, or cartoon characters that act like people. I use a lot of faces and expressions and stories. I'm not an edgy artist; I'm not a very dark artist. I like to call myself "a child of light". This is my focus as an artist, shining some light on a dark world.

Sorry, that was probably a lot more long-winded and poetic than you wanted, haha. I always write way too much.

Kiraichu

05 Feb, 2014, 3:38 am

I know how you feel. Seeing, reading and hearing their reactions to your drawings. It's funny that pixels can change someones mood instantly! To show them something to smile at while the dark clouds choose to linger. "Child of light" huh? Interesting. Ever played Kingdom Hearts?? I think you'll enjoy it very much so. I want my drawings to be the reason other drawings were inspired. :D Would you ever try playing Pokemon by the way? Oh and I don't mind long messages. It means that the person is actually interested in the discussion. You're poetic!? I used to write a lot of poetry. Mostly about love.

Eph 5:8

05 Feb, 2014, 3:53 am

Don't know how interested I'd be in Pokemon *big gasps coming from everywhere* but I think I'd like Kingdom Hearts. I read a few of the mangas back in the day, although in a random order... :P I guess what I'm most worried about is the difficulty level. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm not a huge gamer. Heh.

Kiraichu

05 Feb, 2014, 4:01 am

Oh. You get to play at your prefferred difficulty. ^-^ Plus Wreck-it-Ralph characters may be in the next game. :D But alas it's a big MAYBE. I'd totally biy you Pokemon X or Y to get you into Pokemon. I do that to my friends. :) Kingdom Hearts has lovely music too. You'll be all sorts of inspired!!

Eph 5:8

05 Feb, 2014, 4:05 am

Hm, I'll look into it. Of course, if I start playing a new game my life will probably be taken away from me and I won't be able to finish anything. :P

Kiraichu

05 Feb, 2014, 4:21 am

Hey. Like your favorite Wrecking guy said: "Take life one game at a time." :)

Eph 5:8

05 Feb, 2014, 4:49 am

There is indeed truth to that statement. Heh.
