The entire Pack was in an uproar, the dragons swarming around, flapping their wings and snarling. Just as I was beginning to get worried, One-Ear shoved his way through the crowd and threw his head back at the sky, letting out a fearsome roar that instantly caught the Pack's attention.
'Unknown dragons are approaching,' he growled in his impressively loud voice. 'Prepare to fight or to flee.'
Around me, my packmates calmed down, but I could sense their unease running thick in the air. I gazed up at the clouds and, for the first time, noticed the shapes of winged creatures flying straight towards us, their glowing eyes barely visible through the fog.
One by one the unfamiliar dragons dropped from the sky to land in front of us. There were seven altogether - smaller than our Pack, but a threat nevertheless.
Their leader stepped casually closer and bared her teeth in a grin. She had bright-blue scales and a purple mane flowing along her neck. Her aqua eyes met mine for a split second before sliding away, uninterested.
One-Ear growled deeply and flared out his scarred wings in a menacing stance. 'Who dares to come near our Pack?' he bellowed. 'If you intend to attack us, you will quickly find yourselves torn to pieces.'
The blue dragon smiled. 'Oh no,' she hissed. 'We don't care about fighting. Our Pack is obviously too small to challenge yours. No, we want to join you.'
One-Ear's growling ceased but he still looked suspicious. 'Who are you?' he asked.
'Me?' the blue dragon chuckled. 'Oh, I'm not important. My name is Seaflight.'
I felt a shiver run down my spine. Somehow, I knew that Seaflight was dangerous, but how could I convince One-Ear not to let her join our Pack? He was the leader. He made the decisions...
