The great emerald dragon lowered his head to look me in the eye; his own gaze glowed bright yellow. Somewhere behind him clustered the other dragons, all strangers to me - twelve altogether. I couldn't describe every single one, but one in particular caught my attention. A shiny black with a long crimson mane that hung down his neck, staring at me in a way that was unnerving.
I looked back at the large green dragon and asked nervously, 'S-Sir, may I have your name?'
He chuckled, and it sounded like a long growl rising and falling in his throat. 'Obviously, young one. My name is One-Ear.'
He suddenly stopped laughing and his eyes turned solemn.
'Tigertail,' he rumbled. 'What are you doing out here alone? You're too small to be wandering the land by yourself.'
I bowed my head as a half-forgotten memory washed over me. A memory of a time when I was even younger, barely hatched from my egg.
'I h-have no choice, Sir,' I stammered. 'My mother and father abandoned me out on the moors. For the last six months, I have been taking care of myself.'
The other dragons began to mutter quietly among themselves. However, One-Ear chose not to join in. He lowered his head so he was on eye-level with me, and whispered something that only I could hear.
'Y-your Pack?' I whispered in return, unsure what he meant.
'Indeed,' said One-Ear, and he flicked his tail to gesture at the dragons behind him. 'Everyone here is part of my dragon pack. We are all... outcasts, in one way or another. We were all alone, until we found each other. And I decided to form a Pack where all of these dragons could live in peace and security.'
I blinked, feeling a sudden hope rising. Perhaps I had finally found my place in the world.
Wow, I really liked this chapter! Seriously, you're a really great story writer! The way you use the words is just perfect. And as always, can't wait to hear the next chapter.

'I will gladly accept, Sir,' I said.
