poor pluto :( plus when were old we are going to have to tell the grand kids how 'when i was your age pluto was a planet!' also amazing picture :P layering is awesome!
Oh Pluto, youll always be a planet to me. *cou-plutos actually slightly larger than mercury-gh* Hm. *cough-cough* guess I have a cold. This painting is mind blowing amazing by the way, keep it up!
Pluto fun facts: Charon is not really Plutos' moon. Because Charons' diameter is nearly half that of Pluto, the center of balance of the system is outside the surface of Pluto, so that makes them a binary planetoid system, not planet and moon. The orbits are also synchronously locked, so from Pluto, Charon never rises or sets, but remains permanently fixed in its' position in the sky.
All of this cartoon and video game goofiness (which i love) sometimes just pales in comparison to what is really out there... amongst the stars! Spelled amongst wrong.. i think :)
I love the wavy space! I've always wanted to explore the cosmos, but I don't have to because of your beautiful work. Also, Pluto will always be a planet in my heart.
Superlative use of 3D. I love cold, distant portrayals of space. And as long as I breathe,Pluto will be a planet to someone. I'd be pretty irrate about the whole thing if I were Plutonian. Fortunately I'm from another solar system entirely...
It's not strictly about being small, it's about being relatively small to everything else around it. Because of Charon and all the other crap floating around Pluto's area (or whatever surrounding space is considered for the definition), Pluto is not the dominant mass in said area, and therefore not considered a planet. So it makes perfect sense from the (new) standard definition. According to my own definition (since we all have our own, personal definitions for these things), it's big enough to squish itself into a sphere and orbits the sun (though Pluto and Charon do wiggle around each other), so it's a planet in my heart. Plus I remember at xome point doing some Greek Mythology project over Hades, whose Roman name is Pluto, so I give it points for that.
