The scribes' tails are malformed grapple tails. They didn't harden after leaving their mother's muscle pouch, enabling the Yhagwist to use it like a paint brush. The black on the scribe tail is what it looks like when they write. c:

They don't have masks. Their helmets are made of actual metal. Their faces are that color to absorb heat since their helmets block out the sun. c:

@inca yes...well, for the most part. The genetics for the Royals are slightly different. Sometimes their weaker Yhags are not born with platinum helmets. They are put into groups by helmet material. The stronger Royal offspring are born with platinum helmets though. Also, not all Yhagwist can mate, especially if they don't have the same helmet types.

Yeah, their skin is sorta like leather. Really tough and dry. They molt for the different seasons all on the same day. They all molt and expose soft vulnrable tissue that can easily become infected. To avoid infection, they are all confined to their huts/houses for 3 days until their new skins grow back in the season's colors. c:

for example, a normal one would have the usual spring colors, with a dark green body, and pink and orange hair. but is it possible that one could have a color that is not in the list for skin and/or hair? like one that has purple skin and normal hair colors. or one that has normal skin and purple and white hair. or maybe even one that has completely unusual colors?

They're born when food is abundant so they can live easier. The ones born in the severe cold of Dilgox's "winter" (known to the planet's inhabbitants as "Dequx" [Day-cuks]. Summer- Hetox [he-tah-ks], Spring- Gutol [Guht-ole] and Fall- Aufei [Aw-fey]) are much less likely to survive.

I'd be a rare one 'cause my birthday is in October. eue I consider you a friend, Takal, so I think I'd be able to call you Tak. Well, I've been calling you Tak for a while.

Their hair is whatever main color, though the under color (closest to the body) is a darker tone of the chosen color. If you chose yellow hair, the darker color would have to be a dark shade of yellow, red, or green.
Their skin color is camoflauge, that's why it changes throughout the seasons. They must remain hidden from their enemies, so the colors listed are the only colors with acceptions of shades of brown for all seasons.

No, their hair doesn't grow once it's cut. They have short hair because they have done something to offend/dishonor the Royalty, or break the law(s). It is very shameful for a Yhagwist to have short hair. It is a sign of their disrespect. Yhagwist's hair is 1 1/2 of their body length. Longer hair is more attractive because it means that they are healthy.

Also, you can tell a Yhagwist's gender by their arms/under bellies. If they have the muscle-pouch then they're female. It's absent in all males.

Yeah. Even if they get a tiny bit cut, it can't grow any longer, so they have to not cut it AT ALL and eat a lot. It grows pretty fast if they eat well. That's why Royal Yhagwist have super long luxiourous hair.

@Sonic, the gla.nds are pockets full of a powerful chemical created by the Yhagwist's diet of Guffa berries. The Yhagwist's digestive system extracts the Guffa's juices (like our bodies and sugars) and mixes saliva and blood to make the solution. It is also very toxic if consumed by other species. It doesn't effect Yhagwist.

It's only effective if consumed or gets into their eyes. Guffa berries are kinda hard to come by, so they prefer to use it as little as possible.

Yhagwist weigh about 13-23lbs, but their tails can support up to three-hundred pounds. They're very tough/strong.

Pretty much. The Royalty live in a very large and intricate hut gaurded by all of the Royal Guards. The normal guards watch over the foragers/gatherers, hunters, entrances, etc. The rest live in moderate sized huts. Large enough for 1-3 Yhagwist. :p

Think of their tail as a tape-measurer (wut), or a really really long retractable leash. They have pouches with extremely strong muscles and the wall around it has a tough coating to protect their soft tissue from friction. They can release it in 1.8 seconds, and drop down a tree at about 37mph.

A Yhagwist is considdered an adult when they are s.exually mature. They can mate at the age of 7 years. They can live up to 20 years. Yhagwist don't mate every year. :p

They walk on either. They walk on their back legs more often than they run on them. Yhagwist usually don't run on their back legs because they're slower that way. They prefer to run in quadruped form, rather than biped.

No, Dioxels have a special squishy substance inside the "gems". The gems are actually boil-like growths that harden in their egg. Though, as they grow older, they gain more that harden about a day after fully surfacing. There is a chemical in the squishy insides that react to the chemicals released by the King and Queen Dioxel's necklaces, causing them to glow.
Yhagwist just have toxic liquid in their gl.ands that cleans rusty "helmets". :p

Scribe tails are too soft to stick into the tree branches, so no. Their tails can still extend normally, but they can't hook onto branches. They don't need to anyway, they just write a lot. The mutation is somewhat inherited, though, even if a Scribe were to have a Yhag (they're not allowed for fear that they might pass on the flaw to too many offspring), it wouldn't mean they would have it. It only boosts the occurence about .2 percent. Also, for some odd reason, the defect only occurs in males, though it is thought to be an internal cause rather than external. The chances a Yhagwist would birth one of these malformed yhags is 1/25O. There are currently only two scribes and they both live in the kingdom.

It's actually like a crow's feather or oil. It's black, but when the light hits it, it's different colors. It smells gross too...but it tastes delicious.

No, they don't usually keep track of calander time. They have 4 seasons, not months, though you can tell what portion of the season they were born in because of their birthstones.

Not really. They celebrate everytime they k!ll a great beast, or a Ruhxud [Ruuh-ks-uhd] (it means "Death Bringer" in Yhagwist's long forgotten language), but that's pretty rare. :p

it makes sense that they dont have time for celebrating if theres only 5O left. and now im also wondering about the species that only has 1O.

No, it's not really a DNA issue, it happens inside of their body. Yhags stay inside their mother's womb for roughly 3 months or 1 season, and the entire yhag's tail stays inside the retaun pouch (the pouch that holds the coiled tail), and once the yhag is born, the tail tip hardens, but with the scribe yhags, their tail tip is stuck inside the pouch due to the retaun pouches' opening being deformed. The opening is too small and the fluid inside can't be released quickly enough, nor can the tail. The tail tip is eventually able to be pulled out, but it's too late for the fibers to fuse. The normal tail tips' fibers harden and fuse once they dry.

Both are entirely made of muscle...well, the legs have bones and tendons, but they are very muscular. Besides, it takes a lot of practice. Their tails have no bones in them at all. It's pure muscle covered in a thin-but hardy-layer of wexo [Whu-ex-oh]. Wexo is in every Yhagwist, and it lubricates the tail, and it helps their molting skin slide off easier. It's similar to sweating, though it smells much better. When yhags molt for the first time, the wexo covers their tail. It is instinctive for the yhags to unrule their entire tail from their retaun pouch and let the fluid naturally cover it. :p (so gross)

The gIands aren't in the gems...they're not even related. The gems/birthstones are those set stones, because the blood trees that the kingdom's built on/around. The blood treeshave microscopic seeds that change every calendar month. They're called blood trees because the seeds get into the pregnant Yhagwist's bloodstream tnrough her nostrils and into the yhag's blood. They sprout up from above their wrists where the blood flows very well. It's a harmless parasitic growth that looks pretty and absorbs/ventilates their blood.

XD it's fine. Blood tree seeds are in every Yhagwist's bloodstream, they're completely harmless and won't sprout. They're constantly inhaling the micro-seeds, but they don't even notice.

I'm just making the vast majority of this stuff up after you ask the question. No, they keep their hair if it's healthy, but it can fall out. They have 6 dull fangs and grinding teeth in the back of their mouthes, and shearing teeth. They have 23 teeth that are replaced 3 times through out their lifespan.

There aren't any subspecies. Only one yhag is born to a mother. They care for the yhag until they are out of their mother's muscle pouch and until they are 4-6 years old.

When I lived in NY, It was a lot like that. When we got there, It was early winter, and when we left, it was late summer. That was the first winter I had ever experienced, and it was cold. It got to - 2O easily in the night. And in the summer it got pretty hot, in the 9Os. It was humid though, so it made it feel even hotter.

Oh gosh. I know. Ohio gets extremely hot and humid in the summer and really cold in the winter. I wish it could be cold year round though...

I live in Minnesota... it gets over a hundred every summer and below -30 every winter.... AND IT'S ALWAYS HUMID AS FAHK! XD

No. They can't because they don't have thumbs...they /could/, but it'd be tough and they're perfectly fine without tools. They're well adapted to their enviroment.

How does their hair get colored? or is it kinda randomized?

It's like our hair...well, more along the lines of anime hair. It's genetics. Two-toned hair is the most common, though, certain combinations of helmets and gems can create one-toned or three-toned hair. It's very rare though.
