Hayley Williams by mcollins

Portrait practice. This one is Hayley Williams from Paramore.

Someone needs to give me a good technique for blending skin tones, it was a nightmare trying to get the shading right on the face!

Paramoreftw! :D i like it! Yeah its hard to do skin tone blending, moreover on simple apps like colors! But i think the color tone is well-balanced. Good job :)

Thanks acchan.
I found the shading on the face very difficult, I got it looking right in the end but only through luck I think.

well done! though i know very little of the human anatomy but i do know that adding some oil shine on the forehead, cheek and a little on the nose can make all the difference. but not smooth shinny... kinda like a ruff dotted look? know what i mean? but i could be wrong... but thats my input... GREAT JOB!!! love your art!

Cool!
I have a hard time with portraits - they usually end up looking ugly. Maybe one of these days I'll post,. 4 hours is really goo, it'll probably take me about 5+ hours on one.

Thanks for the comments guys! :)

@Funny_Puppy: I think I know what you mean, thanks for the feedback. I might try using that effect on portrait work in future uploads.

@Buck_7: I'm finding portraits are getting a little easier with practice, they are still quite tricky at times though.

For skin tones the colors are noticeably more saturated in the transition area from the highlights and shadows, and also don't forget there's blood and stuff under the skin so it's a bit redder where it's thin. :) This is really good anyway though, especially on an iPhone(?)!

Thx guys

@darthTofu: I draw on an iPod, it's not too difficult, and thanks for the advice! Much appreciated :)

@Klausboss: Thank you :)

@Narciso: Thanks a lot for the detailed advice. Unfortunately my iPod doesn't have pressure sensitivity though so I can't use that technique.
