I was in an asylum. For what? I hadn't the slightest idea. I quietly took in my surroundings. A dark room with a small window, dawn light shaf.ted through and into my sensitive pale green eyes. Dust particles floated around in the atmosphere about me, and it felt much too hot in here. Trying to stand up, I slowly realized that I was in a straight jacket and my legs were bounded to the legs of the cold steel chair I was on. It slowly dawned on me that the reason I was hear was because of the 'attacks.' Jaw clenched, I began to feel a hard lump in my throat and moistness forming in my eyes. A single tear rolled down my cheek- I had kiIled my best friend. My attention snapped toward the sound of footsteps echoing down the ivory walled hallway, and two girls- also tied up- were thrown into my 'cage' as well. One had jet black hair and hazel eyes, she mumbled several curses and got to her knees. The other girl, a blue-eyed blonde, was crying silently. Her arms had burns covering them, which I silently concluded had come from cigarretes. I longed to ask them why they were there, but decided they needed time to adjust.
We sat there in the darkness, seeming to put a weight on our shoulders, for some time until the raven haired female growled, "Alice, shut the hell up already!" she snarled, glaring at the blonde. The sobbing immediately stopped, as if Alice, I assumed that was her name, was afraid of the other girl. The two girls' gaze drifted upon me, and I glanced toward them shyly. My bruised, heavily scarred face was what I thought had caught their attention, but to my surprise Alice spoke. "E-excuse me... where are we...?" she questioned softly, her slight British accent making her seem frail and delicate. Feeling as if an entire crowd were watching, I stammered, "Er... my name is Crimson...." Hazel-eyes, as I called her, nodded, "The name's Pepsi. I'd shake your hand, but unfortunately the basta.rds here decide to tie us up and hold us hostage," she huffed. "So, what you in here for?" Pepsi asked me. "Mur.der..." I responded grimly. Pepsi and Alice's eyes both seemed to widen, then in unison they responded, "As are we...."
"Really...?" I breathed, my heart racing. They had seemed familiar, and it felt as if we had met before. I longed to learn more about my new room-mates before the staff 'tested' us. "How did you do it?" I asked quietly, lowering my voice considerably so the staff couldn't hear me speaking. "We'd rather not say..." Alice muttered, trying not to be heard. Pepsi seemed to about to make a rude retort, but was interrupted as a lovely woman and handome man entered our room carrying 'leashes' and electric prods. Alice's whimper was the last thing I heard before everything went dark.
---
I woke up that evening in a small cage. There was a large burn on my neck and a collar was tightly strapped to me as well. A number was on it: 666. I swallowed nervously, then jumped in fear as I heard the sound of metal clanking loudly. Other cages were being placed next to mine; they, too, had patients in them. All wore similar collars and had the same burn. I observed them, realizing that the 'burns' were really just a symbol branded onto us. It was pentagrams. -TO BE CPNTINUED-
A loud voice boomed out of nowhere, at first I thought it was this 'God' many people speak of, but I realized it was nothing but the Ringleader, as my inmates and I called him. He began announcing that we were to fight one another that were in different Quadrants. The final three of each Quadrant would be kept as his 'pets' and used in battle. I clenched my jaw yet again, but I knew that my new friends Alice and Pepsi were with me. I hoped that the three of us would survive, so we could escape together. The staff had removed all articles of clothing from us, and I felt weak and exposed. The cages clicked open, and we all stepped out and onto the dry, pric.kly grass. The Ringleader told us to demonstrate our 'powers' in this battle. I gulped, *P-powers?* I thought, then knew what must be done. I'd have to shift. I was afraid to do so, since I often lost control over myself when doing so. My gaze set itself upon Pepsi as she shifted into a tawny coloured puma. She was like me. Alice shifted into a pale coloured wolf with golden eyes, which cowered away from the sudden horiffic war going on around her. I, not shifting, immediately ran toward the large 'mansion' in the center of our battlefield.
The large, run-down building was far way, and I knew I was risking a lot by running toward it without shifting. I was nearly tram.pled by a large friesan horse, who seemed to want to crack my skull with his rock-hard hooves. My heart rate quickened as I continued my dash for safety. Without any regret I shoved a dog-shifter between the horse and I, and didn't look back to see the yelping canine getting beaten to death by the large equine. The house was only about 300 yards away, but I was out of breath. I needed to rest. There wasn't any time to though, so I continued my plundering across the bloody field. At last I entered the mansion, slamming the door behind me and breathing heavily. My chest heaved with each gasp for air, and slowly I sunk to the floor, where I hugged my knees and cried. I jerked my head up, eyes wide with fear when I heard growling before me. My green gaze locked with the hazel eyes of the cougar in front of me. "Pepsi...?" I breathed, the cuts on my cheeks stinging from my salty tears. The she-cat's gaze softened, "Oh thank god you're alright..." she said quietly, "Alice is hurt... you need to help her...."
"Wh-where is she?" I asked, standing up. "Up there," she motioned with her head up to a balcony. There looked like there had been stairs there before, but had long ago been removed. "I can't carry you there. You'll need to shift to get tl her." It suddenly clicked. I knew now where I had first met Alice and Pepsi. They were with me when I had kiIled HIM. My best friend, Cedar. By the look in Pepsi's eyes, I could tell she had figured it out, too. "Go ahead. Become your tiger form." "I-I can't..." I whispered. Pepsi thrashed her tail, "And why not?! Alice is dieing! She NEEDS YOU GOD DAM.MIT!" she screamed in my face. "Alright..." I squeaked, feeling hot tears drip down my face yet again. I concentrated, but not on shifting into a tiger. I hoped I wouldn't shift, but I put on a facade to make Pepsi think I was. She grinned, but it was... different. I HAD shifted, but not into a tiger... into a DRAGON. I had shiny, golden flesh and icey blue eyes. When I realized what I had become it took my breath away. Pepsi twitched her tail, "Come on... let's go." She tightened her muscles, then sprung onto a collumn, leaping from perch to perch to get to the balcony. I swallowed nervously, spread my shining wings, and glided up upon the balcony; although my landing was quite painful. "A-alright... where is she?" I stammered. "This way..." Pepsi replied, leading me down a winding hall and into a small back room. I nearly vomi.ted at the sight of the bloodied wolf. Her stomach was sliced open, and I could see her innards hanging out. We tenderly walked to Alice's side, and I cried again, "Oh, Alice..." I whispered. Based on the wounds she had, I knew she wouldn't last more then another several minutes.
"Y-you're going to be okay..." I breathed. I feltbad for lying to the delicate girl, but I wanted to comfort her. "Who did this?" I asked Pepsi. She growled, "Some dam.n lion..." she spat, thrashing her tail. I curled one of my wings around Alice as her breathing slowed. Tears rolled down both mine and Pepsi's faces as our friend died before us. I growled, then stood up, "Let's go find this bas.tard. I'll flay him alive and feed his entrails to the crows!" I roared, Alice's blood stained all over my thick skin. Pepsi sniffed, then nodded, "I know which way he-"
---
"Looking for me?" a male lion with a gray pelt, black mane, and glaring amber eyes chuckled, a maniacal grin plastered to his face. "Who are you?" I demanded, my sharp claws scraping the wooden floor. "The name's Jason," he replied, then grinned wider, "You remember me, girls?" Pepsi growled, then yowled, "Alice loved you! Why would you do that to her?!" Jason licked the still-fresh blood off of his claws, "I never loved that b!tch. I USED her. Used her so I could get you all here... where you shall meet your demise," he snarled, then let out a vicious roar and leaped at us with his claws extended.
I heard the sickening sound of claws ripping into flesh and blood splattering onto the floor. Pepsi let out a gurgled cry before dropping to the floor. Her throat was torn open, and blood pooled around her limp body and my scaled feet. I longed to flee, but I stayed where I was, trembling horribly. "Aw, is the witle lizard scared?" Jason snickered, his amber eyes gleaming with bloodlust and hatred. "N-no..." I mumbled. "What?!" he snapped, and I looked him in the eyes, "I. Said. NO. I'm tired of being scared! I'm going to finally fight! You kiIled my friends!" I screamed, feeling a very warm sensation in the back of my throat. The dark lion spat at me, then harshly retorted, "And they're not the only ones. YOU'RE NEXT." He leaped at me, screeching loudly. I, too, leaped at him, and suddenly glorious blue flames burst from my mouth. It ignited both Jason, the mansion, and myself. We both screamed in pain as we began dieing, and the last thing I said was, "If I'm going down, you're going down with me!" And with those final words, I choked the lion with my jaws as we were both, along with the corpses of Alice and Pepsi, engulfed in the flames I had produced, where we all lost our lives.
And thus, ends the story of the Golden Dragon. A story about a girl, who never could stand up for herself. By the time she did, it was too late, and she perished in the flames she had created in order to save herself and her friends.
Oh wow, this story was just... It was so perfect! I really freaking love it! You're possibly one of the best story writers here on Colors!! You only did one typo. "dieing" should be "dying". Other than that, this story is absulutely perfect, I really love it! Keep it up!
