Daxym is a hippogriff with a simple means of living- his estate is small, he grows grain in a small plot of land, and he swims and catches fish in his pond. His structure might suggest that he favors the griffins, but instead, his odd form gives him political freedom- he hates the very thought of war. It makes his gizzard burn in rage and twist in disgust. He worries over his plots burning to the ground and his pond freezing solid because of it. Although he is usually rather friendly, he stubbornly refuses to show favoritism to either side. He speaks with birds to get his news. In a weird quirk, he speaks almost entirely in rhymes. His singing and yodeling tend to get people angry easily. Physically, he follows in classic loon fashion. His flight is straight-forward and not above average, and his running is hopelessly clumsy, but his swimming and diving is exeptional. He loves to look for treasure at the bottom of his pond.
What would a character that wants nothing of war fit into a story based on it? The magic word is 'potential'.
