I always wanted to make a story where the hero was like a ghost. The hero would be completely invisible to the world around him, but actions would still effect it. Effectively, his powers are well suited for criminal acts, and the temptation would be there. The question would arise, "How long is someone willing to serve the greater good if he or she does not recieve credit for it?"
