these are murder holes for shooting people below your fort.
makes your walls looking nice and you can make with stairs some pretty neat shooting holes in the wall. almost no hits I got when people attacked me in range of the hole. the arrows pretty much were sticking in the wall which I could recollect and fire back, I hit them easily.
IT ALSO STOPS SPIDERS TO CLIMB OVER THE WALL.
