Actually, Lightningpaw was in love with Sweetpaw, but then Sweetpaw had to be a medicine cat because of her leg. Lightningpaw turned to Lightningstrike and she was still Sweetpaw (not done with training). Lightningstrike still loved her, but he knew he could never be with her. He vowed to never let any cat become close to him. So he pushes them all away with his hate. He has turned completely cold to all cats, but still has a soft spot for her. His made up 'fake insane' side has just become a real part of him.
XD I didn't think anyone would figure it out though.

He also hates kits because he'll never get to have any of his own. XD
