since i'm taking this philosophy class, i think more about things.
so why do people even look for love? is it something we keep seeing around so we feel we have to or is it an instinctual thing?
my argument is that its a peer pressure thing. but on a level you dont even think about. like on a society level. like its something thats part of growing up. but...is it?
let me hear your thoughts

Since I'm not looking for love, I can't really tell you why people do it. My guess: People are always hearing about how love is "such a wonderful thing" and that it feels "like nothing else in the world", and it causes them to want that feeling, to search for that feeling.

In my opinion now that I think about it. I agree with you because it is more of a society peer presure thing...or more like peer presure in general. I mean when you start growing up you start hearing people say, "Oh! You need a boyfriend. When will you ever fall in love? Isn't there anyone you like? etc. etc" So from that, a person who never thought about it will start thinking about it. That and its drilled into us at a very young age, so its practically programmed into you. Thus, society peer pressure.

Well your not wrong, most people who fall in love either do it because they feel they have to, others just aren't ready.
However, love is a powerful feeling, its imbedded into our minds, it tells you what you like and dislike, when I first fell in love I was caught off guard, i personaly don't look for love, i just sort of find it, its something most look for but hardly find.

@Xiao
see i cant whole heartedly believe in love anymore. i dont even know what it is exactly. do any of us know? i mean seriously know? we look for something we dont know anything about. but when we "find" it we swear its perfect. that it truely is "love" but how can we be sure. we dont know what love means.

It makes human reproduction sound more special than it is basically. Essentially the reality is, its one big competition. Look up reproductive behaviors of other animals its quite similar to us if you break it down.

I think that the reason people search for love is because everyone has a desire to love and be loved. It's a human quirk that no one can get rid of. Love, to me, is not neccessarily romantic, but where the one who loves is willing to die to save the loved. Love is powerful and not how society pictures it where you fall in love get married and live "happily ever after." People love their parents right? But they aren't going to marry them. Love is different, love is sacrifice.
But this is just my opinion.
