are filipino's pacific islanders or asians? it might be a dumb question but i wanna hear (read) my bud's or anyone's opinions...if you'll let me...
i've been told both but i still consider us asians.(no racism, if there is any)

Even though the Philippenes is situated in the western pacific ocean, the term "Pacific Islander" only refers to people in the regions of Micronesia, Melanesia & Polynesia. The Philippene archipelago doesn't fall within these regions hence, Filipinos can't be considered Pacific Islanders. Although culturally very different from mainland asia, the Philippines resides within the southeast asia and thus is considered asian. Thus, you are Asian but not Pacific Islander. Hope this helped :)
Fun fact: Filipino culture contains Malay, Spanish, American & Japanese influences (due to previous invasians) :D

@rawr:thanks for the info! now i can tell my peeps at school that i'm asian!
i used to live in the phillipines but now i'm in america! i can understand most tagalog but i can only speak a little bit. if there's some jap in there does that mean i have some jap blood too?! :D
