To the question above, practice. Gesture drawing is great for anatomy if practicing with people, but also good for learning how to draw anything fast. Just draw anything you see as fast as you can. Time yourself to less than a minute, even a few seconds in some cases. Just basic shapes. Mistakes are a part of it too, none of it has to look good at first.
Oh wow, I do the exact same thing. XD I'll leave colors on my 3ds for hours and just let it sit there before I finally get around to starting what I need to start. >v>'
