I've decided that Ladder wandered the galaxies lost and alone as a young child, and was found by Eko, a fashion designing diva of the alien race called Toco [of the planet Tarkonen]. Eko makes her his apprentice, and created her hat, boots, and bunny ears. He is even responsible for Ladder's lavender skin tone [she used to be pure white].
