Sol: Based on what read, though history, these tricks where used to scare away creatures of the dark who where amune to regular fire. Only fire directly from the Sun's energy was able to scare theses demons away by revealing them to ones sight, that way we chould defeat them. This was also a reason why even the weakest races of intelengent life was able to survive.
(I guess I should differntly add this sene to the story.)
