A young, white ferrit with long black-tipped ears is sitting in her living room watching TV. Her name is Echo "There's nothing good on! TV was different back THEN. Maybe i'll watch a movie.." She said to herself looking at the shelf. Suddenly there was a sound behind her. She turned around and was startled by a light-grey ferrit with black stripes. He was frozen in the middle of a step and was holding a bag of food. It was her neighbor, Tack. She was relieved. "Your brother spent all his money at the casino again? Why don't you just get a job instead of taking everyones food!" She mocked him playfully. "I can't! Nobody will hire me because they think i'm no good like my parents were!" He puts down the bag. Echo stands up. "What about the store? The nice old ferrit who owns it probably doesn't care!" Tack looks doubtful. "I don't know.." But she grabs him by the hand. "Come on! You have to prove yourself!" She runs out of the house dragging Tack along. They pass several houses in the Neighborhood set up by the Ferritlord for all the young ferrits orphaned by The War. After a while they get to the park. They stop there for a moment and sit on a bench. No one is around, because it is starting to get late.
Echo sighs. "Well this was dumb. The store is going to be closed before we get there." Tack noticed they were still holding hands. "It wasn't a complete waste of time. I get to hang out with you a little. You know, you are the closest thing i have to a friend." She smiles. "What about that colorful kid you used to hang out with?" Tack frowns. "I haven't heard from Daz in a long time. He really changed after The War." Echo holds his hand a bit tighter. "We all have." The street lights come on, and they sit there and watch the sun set. Tack thinks to himself that this is the perfect time to tell Echo how he feels about her, but somehow he can't. Not yet. Suddenly, someone calls to them from the road. It is the last person Tack wanted to see.
